rose Chromebook > Android > Boinc 7.4.53 suddenly crunching too much work

Y'ellow.

I keep a chromebook with a broken lid in the corner crunching work units (WUs). It keeps my hand in WCG. For a long time, it hasn't gotten work from any projects other than MCM and OPN, and that's OK with me. I'm glad they'll let my tiny machine do a little work for them.

For years, the chromebook consistently achieved a Recent Average Credit (RAC) of around 600 to 700. It was enough to keep me off the streets.

I monitor the chromebook's progress on my Windows laptop, on the Windows Boinc app. I don't stress the Windows laptop with any WUs, because it's an antique. I just use it to monitor the chromebook, because the Windows app includes a pretty Statistics graph.

Then around November 1 2021, my RAC started climbing steeply. On Nov 8, the RAC hit 1000. Nov 11, RAC is at 1078, and the slope on the Statistics graph suggests the RAC is not beginning to level off yet. It looks like it will be increasing even a lot more.

At first, I thought a lot of WUs that were "Pending Validation" suddenly got validated coincidentally. I checked my Results to see if all my WUs had suddenly been validated, but there are still the average dozen or so "Pending-WUs" that there always seem to be.

I wonder if anyone else has noticed their chromebook is suddenly being awarded a higher RAC? Perhaps Krembil Research Institute started awarding "points" more liberally starting around Nov 1?

Screenshot shows user average. This is all the computers added up. Press the "Show host average" button to show points on just this one computer.

Does t have a GPU?
Could it have started processing OPNG WUs?

Only the chromebook has been crunching.

> Does it have a GPU?
Device Info > _CPU_:
GPU Renderer, PowerVR Rogue GX6250
GPU Vendor, Imagination Technologies
GPU Version,Open GL 3.2 build 1.13@5824814
-- I don't know what that means. Do I have a GPU? I think there's just the 4 cores, ARMv8 Processor rev 2 (v8l). I assume video is processed by the CPU.

> Could it have started processing OPNG WUs?
The chromebook has only been crunching OPNs and MCMs for the longest time. I tell WCG that I'll take any project, but they only send OPN and MCM to this chromebook.
I don't see any project that "OPNG" might refer to, but the chromebook isn't crunching any of them, anyway.

Today, the Recent Average Credit is up to 1099.

A quick look around the Android threads, I don't see anyone else mentioning that their RAC has suddenly started to inexplicably accelerate. For a few years, I've known the solitary chromebook gets an RAC of 600 to 700. I don't understand the sudden jump to 1100 -- sustained and increasing.

Thanks for considering my situation.

OPNG is the part of OPN that runs on the GPU and yes, you do have a GPU and you do run OPN so it is possible.

Go into My Contribution > Results and filter on Project OPN with a string of OPNG and see if anything is returned.

Re: Chromebook > Android > Boinc 7.4.53 suddenly crunching too much work

Hey Bryn Mawr. Like Philadelphia, but suburban.

Cool. I have a GPU <heart>

I can't promise the chromebook has never seen an OPNG, but I don't go back to look at every WU it processes.

But there are no OPNGs today, or for the past few days, at least. And yet, the chromebook's RAC continues to increase. Now it's up to 1140.

Using Results search-function to find OPNG, and I get Zero.

Thanks ahead.

Good thought.

It's up to 1161. Absurd. Good ghosts.

Results page > no filters. Recalls 38 work units, In Progress, Valid, and Pending. Only device contributing is the chromebook.
