So my new-ish Framework laptop has an Intel i7-1165G7 processor which includes their Iris Xe iGPU with 96 execution units. I've seen a few posts from folks running older intel iGPUs (with mixed results) but didnt really see any results from the new Xe line. this can be a thread for various Intel iGPU OPNG discussion rather than being littered all over several different threads.
----------------------------------------for S&Gs i wanted to see how OPNG tasks fared vs running on the CPU and if it was in any way worth it. the laptop is equipped with 32GB (2x16GB dimms, dual channel) DDR4-3200 MT/s memory I'm running the system under Linux Ubuntu 20.04.3 with the 5.11 kernel and NEO intel drivers. I first allowed the system to download one intel CPU job to get a baseline run. it completed in 3330 seconds on a WU with 5 jobs. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/results/194336483/log then I disabled CPU processing from the WCG preferences and waited for some GPU tasks to show up. I got two shortly. they both had 78-79 jobs, and completed in about 1400-1700s each. https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/results/198117480/log https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/results/198117516/log so about half the time, for 15x work, an effective ~30x speed advantage for the iGPU vs single CPU core. the CPU seemed to run cooler as well. anyone else have results from Intel Xe? ![]() EPYC 7V12 / [5] RTX A4000 EPYC 7B12 / [5] RTX 3080Ti + [2] RTX 2080Ti EPYC 7B12 / [6] RTX 3070Ti + [2] RTX 3060 [2] EPYC 7642 / [2] RTX 2080Ti |
