Hi Cyclops,
----------------------------------------I believe a fix was put into place because of the issue with missing devices. Seventeen days ago I changed the name of a device that I added four weeks ago. The name didn't change on the website until this morning (Saturday)! [Edit 1 times, last edit by adriverhoef at Dec 24, 2022 12:28:13 PM] |

Hi Cyclops, I believe a fix was put into place because of the issue with missing devices. Seventeen days ago I changed the name of a device that I added four weeks ago. The name didn't change on the website until this morning (Saturday)! I renamed a device a couple months ago. I'm still waiting for the new device name to appear in Devices. I sent two support emails with screenshots last week. Seems like this is a difficult issue to fully resolve. Maybe Krembil can tell us why some device names are being updated and others are not. Is this a feeder issue? I realize that MCM is seemingly the only active subproject at the moment, but it should be robust enough to handle the load, especially since WCG is only soft launched so far with minimal userbase. If the feeder can't handle the current workload, that doesn't bode well for a full Go Live and tens or hundreds of thousands more devices.
----------------------------------------I have my slow machine set at 3 day queue and my quad-core Coffee Lake set to 5 day queue just to keep fed. I prefer 1 day sweet spot.

I would also prefer a 1 day cache setting, but with the somewhat erratic stops and starts, a 3 day setting has worked really well. I have not run short anytime recently, yet have not had any which ran over. I was close a couple of times, but it worked out. For the moment there seems to be plenty of MCM. Cheers

I just changed my cache setting from 1.5 to 0.5 days because I kept getting resent WU’s ABORTED BY SERVER and was tired of it! I would rather ALL MY WORK COUNT than watch WU’s get aborted!
Seems that there are some who feel the need to have a 6-day cache. Why? I have no clue. I can see a day or two, but not a week. At the 6:00:00-day mark, the system does an automatic RESEND on that WU. To anyone running a long queue, please make sure that all your WU’s are well clear of your system before the 6:00:00-day mark! Kinda frustrating. We struggle to keep the WU flowing without tying up Krembil’s end (as a courtesy until their IT group fixes things) only to have our work ABORTED. And their run time was only about one or two hours after sitting in their queue for almost a week. Yes, I would like to see no idle time on my crunchers, but I don’t feel the need to be greedy about it. |
