Do they need 3 validations? No, two valid results constitute a quorum for ARP1. What has happened in the example you showed is that both the initial wingmen reported as No Reply, so two retries were issued; however, the second original wingman returned a result nearly a day after the deadline, too late for the server to cancel either of the retries. So it ended up with three valid results. Hope that helps :-) Cheers - Al. P.S. Late replies are actually quite common, and for a project like ARP1 they aren't good news. However, unless WCG decide to restrict the number of ARP1 tasks a system can receive, it's likely to continue... |

3 tasks in 1 workunit all pending validation, with one computer being a little late.
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/155141517 Looks like ARP1 resend is either very slow or not working with "Waiting to be sent". https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/155390774 My BOINC event log shows: Scheduler request completed: got 0 new tasks No tasks are available for Africa Rainfall Project I will guess ARP1 may be slowed down or stopped at this moment. |

Yes, all the recent ones I have had have been resneds. Only picked up one yesterday. and that was its fifth attempt. Completed fine though. Interestingly, two others had completed the task. I had always thought only two successful completions were needed? |

Can see both Due and Return Time here, although may be difficult to read.https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/155118089 https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/api/v3/ms/workunit/155118089 ARP1_0010936_129 Task 0 returned before Due Time. Task 1 is a little late, went past Due Time. Task 2 was slow to resend. This may have been "Waiting to be sent" for a while. If validator was working with "Valid" on any task on this workunit, then any of this can happen: -- Any resend which is "Waiting to be send" should stop with "No Need". -- If task didn't start, then this can go "Server aborted". None of this appear to happen when validator is either too slow or not working. There can be a small chance for any "Pending Validation" or 'Pending Verification" to have made a wrong calculaion and go "invalid", mostly from CPU overclock or RAM instability, possibly require a resend to check. Another task may possibly be needed to verify when this happens. |

I receive 1 or 2 a day ARPs at the moment. This one is strange:
https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/contribution/workunit/155115138 I received it early this day and sent it back in the evening - still "Pending Validation". The other two were sent on 25.8. - still "Pending Verification" after completion. What is the difference? Thanks for an explanation. |
