Re: all devices not showing up

I don't think this answers this issue. Many of us seem to have experienced this problem even though our multiple machines have been running WCG for days or weeks. It would be nice to be certain that results and "credit" for all machines are being reported.

The stats on the web page are updated at about 0600 GMT, and will only include results uploaded by the previous 2359 GMT. That might explain short term differences between the points indicated in the WCG agent and the points listed on the web page. If your PC takes one month to complete a work unit, it won't get any points for all that work until the work unit is completed and uploaded.

The Device Statistics page by default only shows the devices registered in the last 7 days or returned results in the last 14 days, so devices that haven't returned results in the last 2 weeks will not show up unless you change the time criteria and hit the refresh button. Devices that have never returned a result will show up in the Device Manager page but will never show up in the Device Statistics page.

I reloaded both of my machines trying to troubleshoot during the November "bad work unit" time, so although I have two PCs running, it shows that I have 4 installations, and two of them do not show up unless I change the time criteria to be at least "results returned in the last 60 days"

There is no log file for the WCG agent, so without one, it's harder to verify that machines are completing work units and getting credit unless you watch them all closely.

Do you have ready access to all of your PCs? If you do, open the WCG agent on each machine and see what it reports as the member name and total points. Obviously if you used a different member name on some of the PCs, then all the points won't show up under the same member name on the web page.

What are the total points indicated on each PC? I can't remember, when you load on a new machine and download the first workunit there, does it start showing the cumulative points returned for your member name right away, or does it only update total points when that machine uploads a result?

Look at the task run time on each PC, and use that value, combined with the amount of time the PC has been crunching the work unit, to work backwards to the date/time that PC started working on that work unit. Also look in the directory the WCG agent is installed in. there should be a file ud_XXXXXX with no extension (the X's will be some numerical digits) This appears to be a file that was downloaded with the last work unit. If the PC has been on all the time crunching uninterrupted, the time on this file should be about the same as the current time minus the task run time in the agent. If there is a big difference between those two times, then maybe there is a problem on the PC where the agent does not run as continuously as you think it should. If those times agree, and it is more recent than when the PC downloaded it's first work unit, then that would indicate that the PC has completed a work unit, uploaded the results, and downloaded a new work unit. If this time was before the web page update cutoff time (2359 GMT) and it is after the actual web page update time (0600 GMT), then the results should show up in your statistics. The total run time and total points in the WCG agent on the PC should update as well as soon as the new work unit is downloaded.

It can be a bit of guess work to determine if an individual PC is completing work units and uploading results unless you periodically check it's individual progress in the WCG agent. I do not know how powerful your PCs are, what % of time they are on and actively crunching work units, etc. If your statistics aren't updating as you expect, you first have to verify the PCs are completing work units and uploading results, and then you can evaluate whether the stats web page is updating appropriately.

My stats appear to be updating correctly, and if I thought they weren't going up appropriately, then I would look to make sure the PCs are successfully completing work units. I have had two instances where one of my PCs didn't earn points like it should. Once was when someone turned the PC off for the weekend, and another was when the WCG software update required me to tell my firewall to continue allowing it to access the net but it took me a couple of days before I could get back to where that PC is. Other than that, my web page stats appear correct for being updated as a 2359GMT snapshot.

Re: all devices not showing up

Hi there,

I have the same problem. Four machines, all have returned results and claim to have points, as of >7 days ago, but the site shows only two machines as having returned results.

Would you mind having a poke around the system, please.

Cheers.
