It seems like the file transfer problems have been gone for several days now, and it's all running smoothly. I'm glad to see an update, and it's nice to see more of this coming together. I'm also seeing signs of movement on the ARP validation backlog, though I still have lots of ARPs stacked up pending validation. It is nice that the FTP is working much better than in the previous week. As far as ARP is concerned, especially the validation, my latest success is waiting for validation. No surprise. I looked at the other users of this work unit, one machine tried twice and disappeared. Mine was successful, and the fourth is still in progress. As far as I can tell, the other three users are the same user. ![]() |

Why do I occasionally see the message "Tasks are committed to other platforms" when I poll for additional WU?
----------------------------------------This implies to me that there are available WU, but I cannot have them?? ![]() [Edit 1 times, last edit by bfmorse at Sep 18, 2022 5:10:57 AM] |

Why do I occasionally see the message "Tasks are committed to other platforms" when I poll for additional WU? it refers to tasks already in the output queue ready for pickup, and should indicate that there's a need to supply tasks to a different operating system. Because WCG targets tasks for a work-unit to the same system type(s), as soon as a task for a work-unit goes out, any other tasks for the same work-unit will be marked as for the same system type[1]... So there will be times when other system types don't get a look in :-)This implies to me that there are available WU, but I cannot have them?? ![]() By the way, if you look at the list of "No tasks are available for..." items, one or more of the task types you're willing to accept will probably be missing. I usually find it's the line with "No tasks are available for Mapping Cancer Markers" that goes missing! Cheers - Al. [1] If an issued task returns an error and there are no other tasks out in the field for that work unit at the time, the system requirement is relaxed. My Linux systems often get OPN1/OPNG tasks where the first out went to a Windows system that failed it at once for one reason or another - as OPN1/G uses adaptive replication there's usually only one task sent out initially , unlike ARP1, HST1 and MCM1... The problem is far from solved. As soon as new batches are sent out, instead of mostly resends, the transient HTTP errors will come back. That will happen until they solve the main problem. That though, seems to be something they are not capable of doing. The word "soon" has been used too many times already by the team, and now that word is totally meaningless, when it comes to WCG "News" postings.

I have decided to stop downloading any World Community Grid work units until things are running a lot better then they are now and even then I may only have at the most 2 of my computers working on World Community Grid work units and the other 2working on other BOINC projects

FWIW, my box with the NVIDIA GPU is seeing transient errors and the one without is fine.
