Re: Hexagame - Discussion

I see we've managed to get in a bit of a mess at the end of a game's A..Z run...

Let me quote the original rubric...
We have to take turns providing the next of six headings with a related term. Each of the six starts with the same letter of the alphabet. When the sixth heading is answered, we start again with the next letter (excluding Q, X & Z, if need be). The player who completes "Y" is expected to provide six more subjects.
That has usually seemed to be taken as applying to "Z" instead of "Y" if a set of answers for "Z" has been completed -- the assumption that skipping "X" and "Z" (or grouping them with "Y") seems reasonable as they wouldn't always show up answers for enough of the subjects, but hasn't always been applied.

If the person who finished up a complete game feels unsure about choices for a new game, a post in this thread asking for suggestions has been known to get things flowing again (see sptrog1 posts [September 2023] on the previous page, for instance)

The most recent entry is now a restart of the same set of subjects, and this will probably stall at Q, X and Z again if it continues :-)

I'll leave it to the more regular participants to sort that out, as I don't think it should be my call as to what to do with that new entry!

Cheers - Al.

P.S. I am one of those who would struggle to come up with suggestions :-( so I would probably look back through some of the past games to get ideas. I doubt many (if any) viable categories haven't appeared several times in the past...

Ah, okay. So new subjects instead of another round of the same? No harm, no foul! I'm down for whatever.

Re: Hexagame - Discussion

No blame, and it is good to see that at least one person has read this thread recently :-)

By the way, I just noticed that Mike actually completed both the "Y" round and the "Z" round...

Ah, well... :-)

Regarding X/Y/Z... The game that started in August 2022 (post-hiatus) and ended on September 8th 2023 [page 1743!] had an X/Y/Z round, as did its pre-hiatus predecessor. The next game also had set up for an X/Y/Z round but the next poster reset it to X and (as it turned out) there was no problem with eventually completing the game (which ran until August 27th 2024 [page 1752]).

The game that has just finished ran a bit quicker than those two :-)

Cheers - Al.
