"Download Failed"

Q: Have you ever had any of your WU's show-up in the BOINC Client with "Download Failed" error?

I've been doing this for a few years and today is the first I've ever seen. There are (3) reporting this status.

I don't see a way to tell it to re-download.

--

This is a Linux Mint system that I'm testing (all my others are Debian so I don't know if that makes any difference)

BOINC Client v7.18.1(x64)

I note *Pre-Release* under Help | About, so perhaps it's something related that...

I don't know if WCG marks these as something assigned to this particular box, but don't know how to re-download (none of the buttons in the Client seem to offer a way to do so).

Thanks...

Re: "Download Failed"

Usually no.
BUT, I recently had several OPN1 and one OPNG files report they were unable to down load data file. And reported it as an ERROR and immediately submitted it as a failed WU.
So, it would be helpful if you could provide more info on problem WUs.
I’ll copy/paste the reference info when I get a chance. Away from my desktop atm.

Re: "Download Failed"

@bfmorse -- It never registered in the Event Logs on the machine which was odd, but if I went to WCG's "Results" page and sorted by devices, I found the below:

<core_client_version>7.18.1</core_client_version>
<![CDATA[
<message>
WU download error: couldn't get input files:
<file_xfer_error>
<file_name>mcm1.dataset-sarc1.txt</file_name>
<error_code>-200 (wrong size)</error_code>
</file_xfer_error>
</message>
]]>

They're all *.txt files which should be very small in size. I have highspeed Fiber Internet so wouldn't be a problem downloading.

Since they error'd they're no longer in the BOINC Client.

It's not extremely important -- I've never seen this before in the past few years I've been doing BOINC projects, so thought I'd ask.

Thanks for your inputs...

Re: "Download Failed"

I think it occurred right at the beginning of the release of WU's so, that data file might have been damaged and not noticed.
But, here is the information, even though you no longer need it, it could be useful to WCG's Team as everyone listed did not have valid results.

The following is probably TMI, but I figured you would decide what is useful or not. I have redacted my Device Names, as that is not something that you would need:

Result name Device name Status Sent time Time due Return time
