2023-10-06 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

Ahead of the Canadian Thanksgiving long weekend, here is an update on work unit supply. OPNG and MCM1 supply is good. We are aware of the 2% validation error rate and 0.4% client error rate for the new MCM1 ovarian work units and are investigating this issue. SCC1 work units are running low and may run out over the weekend as we have processed all currently available work units. We await more work units from the SCC team.

Thanks for your support, and Happy Thanksgiving to those celebrating this weekend!

WCG Team

Not seeing much of OPNG beside some squrts on one or maybe two out of 6 GPU crunching hosts... confused

Re: 2023-10-06 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

Hi Tiger Lily,
Thank you for the update.
Hopefully, the hundreds of SCC workunits I have with wingmen in "Waiting to be Sent" Validation status for weeks will finally get fulfilled.

Tiger Lily,
Thank you for the update. I hope the WCG team have a good Thanksgiving break :-)

I've just received a couple of SCC1 retries for tasks that had been stalled for nearly a fortnight :-)

They're the first retries I've seen for old work units, so that's promising! With luck, once they're all cleared out we won't get another [user generated] repeat performance :-)

Cheers - Al.

Tx . If this update info gonna be regular thingy. Which would be awesome .. :)

Any chance that you put info .. Like for SCC we got loaded units to

SCC1_0004430 ( 4430) for example ? So people know how much stuff is in database and when we reach these numbers. we know there is nothing more after that ?

It doesn't work that way. The order in which the batches are released seems undefined. Let's say if the last batch is 0004452 (the highest batchnumber for the moment) and it would be released on 1st of October, then it is still possible that tens of other batches with a lower batchnumber are being released in the following days.

Re: 2023-10-06 Update (Weekend work unit availability)

For Friday, October 20 - Sunday, October 22:

1. What was the root cause for the website going down again?
2. Why were even MCM1 work units unavailable? In other words, WCG was completely down.
3. I remember reading something about higher availability being put into place for the website. Will that be done soon?
