Has been running normally and all of a sudden on MCM I get the "Suspended--CPU is busy" in the BOINC mgr page under status. The cpu is not any busier than normal and I haven't changed anything lately and the only time I had seen that before was when a WU had finished and it was busy during the upload. Its been 3 days now and several restarts and its still doing it. Anyone else have this issue, if not, what may be the issue?
Thanks |

Thanks What OS, what hardware, which version of Boinc, what are your settings for suspend? Have you looked in the system monitor to see what’s running? You might not have changed anything but, for example, a Windows Update could have come in and got its knickers in a twist or a file indexing run - especially on older hardware either can knock out a machine for days. |

Linux Mint 21, Boinc 8.0.2, x86_64. Nothing in monitor looks wrong and cpu useage is normal.

Please post about 50 or so lines of the event log and let's see if that tells us anything.

It sounds like you have the option set to suspend when your non-BOINC CPU load hits "n%".

The last 50 lines are the same:

I am going to speculate you have a rogue stealth process which is eating cpu cycles, but does not show up in task manager (assuming you use Windows). Maybe try a virus scan and see if it flags anything. Cheers

I'm on Linux so it wont be a virus. I don't see any cpu useage that seems strange. So far today it hasn't suspended, but that is normal and when it starts suspending it just repeats but a turn off/on at least resets it. I was hoping it was a system issue.

A restart or a shutdown will be a brief reprieve but the issue has continued today. There's no pattern I can detect. Sometimes it is suspended for 20 seconds and other times it's 2 minutes or 20 minutes and everything in between. What is really odd is that I have made no changes to the settings in months and everything was fine and there are no other issues with the computer or any programs. Actually today so far it suspends for exactly 20 seconds then resumes, every single time. First that I've seen that.
