Mike has posted a new weekly ARP report https://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewpostinthread?post=701115
WCG is working well sending out MCM and ARP. Hopefully they will increase the ARP amount. |

Interesting. I am not seeing any shortage of MCM... and have so many Pending Validation. It's interesting to hear your machines are seeing a shortage of MCM (ARP I can understand). There are definitely WUs to be had!

I don't know how fast a mchine that is running ARP but if you have more than 1 running 24/7 it might be faster to run only half your threads on 2 machines with ARP and use the other halves for other matters like MCM. ARP has very intense usage, especially at checkpoints (each 12.5%). Mike |

----------------------------------------Thank you for the plug for my weekly ARP report which can be found on the ARP portion of the forum under the thread 'Work Available'. It will be available each Sunday after the posting of .....generations.txt by WCG after 12 noon GMT (UTC). Mike [Edit 1 times, last edit by Mike.Gibson at Jan 27, 2025 6:52:45 PM] |

----------------------------------------run only half your threads Thanks Mike, well aware of that. The machine in question is an Intel i7-3770 running as a very heavily loaded server, especially at night during some periods of house-keeping. Even with 32 GB memory (max possible), it runs with a constant 2 - 3 GB of swap. Consequently that machine is limited to 1 ARP wu. This is a real case of using spare cycles for boinc as the machine runs 24/7 anyway.

That is the same processor as my 2. It is 4C-8T.
I thought you were saying only 1 machine but it seems you were saying only 1 thread. Mike |

It looks like they have upped the amount of ARP WUs going out. the reference number in the first post is now in the 800s ( was in 600s). My machine is running a full load (I'm running without a cache of WUs). How is everyone else?

My machine is running a full load (I'm running without a cache of WUs). How is everyone else? We have a few running (1 or 2) on most systems. Maybe a small gap between completing the task and receiving another. On our system that is "asking" for 4 work units (it only does ARP for WCG), it has been steady at 1 or 2. For clarity, I have the limit set to 4 (it is not running a script to ask for more work). Since the system update, the downloads/uploads have been fast enough that I am comfortable asking for more than 1 ARP work unit at a time. |
