Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

It looks like they continue to increase the amount of ARP WUs going out (the reference number in the first post is now 1000). I hope this means that everyone who wants ARP is getting some. I'm happy to see how stable the system is and how well it is performing.
If you aren't getting ARPs and you want some, I suggest you run 1 MCM just to keep your computer asking for work.

How is the MCM "waiting to send" issue? I'm no longer seeing a problem. They seem to have worked through the waiting to send list, and that might be what caused some people to be unable to get MCMs yesterday.

Yup. All good here. No issues. And I am finally getting ARP tasks on all machines rather than just my slowest machine.

Hi!
Seems like everything is running smooth, no problems with uploads or downloads.
My pcs is receiving acording to prefernces, just waiting for Beta MAMs 😉

PS@Unixchick:

Now that more than a thousand ARP1 last 24 hour, may change/erase " small amount"!

I still have some straggler MCM "waiting to be sent" from a week ago. Some of the oldest ones have definitely sent so I do think there is progress now, just not 100%.

There was definitely a big surge in delayed retries going out on the 29th and into today. There seem to have been so many returned over that period that there's a slight build-up of tasks waiting several hours for validation. I hope that's not going to be the start of another one of those extended PVal jail issues...

Cheers - Al.

The dam must have broken on the retries. I just looked and I have about 50% of my units in progress units being retries. There is even a couple of _3's in there.

Cheers

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

Now, we're in a period of lots of: "Tasks are committed to other platforms", and very few tasks in between.

Edit: And as others have pointed out, tons of "Pending Validation", for tasks that has been finished by both wingmen. But it's Friday, so I guess the computer Gods knows that it's time to create some issues.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

In looking at the reference numbers in the first post
ARP is in the 600s right now, and not the 1000s it was 24 hours ago
MCM at 55k when it is usually 65K
I can see that there isn't as many WUs going out as before. I'm guessing it is a high "resend" point in the sending queue for both projects. Hopefully we are almost through most of it and we can have more "fresh" WUs for the weekend.

We also need to keep an eye on the pending validations that have finished WUs but hasn't been processed.

I think we see them trying to figure out the limit of the new system, as they figure out the balance of generating new WUs, sending out WUs and processing returning WUs. I anticipate that once they find this balance that they will throw another project into the mix and have to figure out how to juggle it all again.
I'm not sure what data they have on their end to help them balance, so user observations of what is going on could be useful to them.

edit: I'm not seeing the pending validations problem in my own results list (too small a sample size). Is it still happening? is it with both project or only one?
edit 2: I'm seeing examples of pending validations for MCM in other threads.

Re Unixchick's post, especially the edits...
edit: I'm not seeing the pending validations problem in my own results list (too small a sample size). Is it still happening? is it with both project or only one?
I can 't see any "Waiting to be sent" retries or tasks stuck "Pending Validation" in my unvalidated work as at about 17:00 UTC today.

There seems to have been a brief freeze in new work being passed to the feeders, as [like Sgt. Joe] I also saw many more retries than usual, and most of them were long-overdue tasks! Whatever the case, it seems to have done the trick :-)

By the way, it would only affect a project with a large amount of work in progress at any time; ARP1 (with only a few thousand tasks out at any one time) is highly unlikely to ever manage to swamp any part of the process, from creation to completion and purging of results!
edit 2: I'm seeing examples of pending validations for MCM in other threads.
A visit to the "Too many Pending Validation" thread in the MCM1 forum will show comments on that topic this month (including some "technical" ones] -- I gather that's the forum referred to :-)

I just hope that we don't get another "Waiting to be sent" storm in about 6 days time when the frustrated users with larger buffers stoke up again...

Cheers - Al.

Re: Project Status (First Post Updated)

My pending validations are sitting at 421 which is about 200 higher than normal. the oldest one is from Jan 21. I don't see any "waiting to be sent."
