Odd statistics regarding points, etc.

I'm still trying to figure out how points, etc., are computed. For example, on my HomeBrewers team, we have three members with the following stats (I did the best I could to tabulate the data):

#__TOTAL RUN TIME___POINTS GENERATED___RESULTS RETURNED
1___0:009:06:52:24_________2,789________________2
2___0:003:06:31:11__________929_________________1
3___0:000:06:59:38__________209________________69

I understand the disparity in results, because that depends upon the length of the task your computer works on, and there is obviously no correlation between results returned and points. If there were, then #3, above, should be much higher in points. But I thought there was a relationship between run-time and points; that seems to be so when looking at #1 and #2, where they are both in approximatel ratio of 3:1. However, when looking at run-time for #2 and #3, assuming 24 hours in a day, #2 has eleven times as much run-time as #3, but only a little over 4 times the points. Is that because #3 was lucky enough to be assigned a huge number of very short tasks?

Thanks.

Re: Odd statistics regarding points, etc.

Hi Bill

I'm sure one of the admins will say that this doesn't belong in the team thread, which is where we are all shameless about promoting ourselves tongue

I assume the stats you've provided are for 3 different machines. Points per hour (on the UD software) are based on the "Overall Score" that can be seen when you open the agent. This in turn is made up of 4 different elements; processor, memory, storage and network.

The processor and memory are fixed unless you change your hardware in some way, although the processor score can drop if you are using the machine for other things when uploading and the benchmark is run. The storage can be increased in your preferences - most people have it set to the max. The network is fixed at 100 for everyone.

Re: Odd statistics regarding points, etc.

Sorry again. I guess this belongs in "Chat"? I figured that would be for things completely off-topic from WCG, like maybe talking about world events, or football games, etc. Please forgive me, but I think I am finally catching on. I will keep all posts pertaining to the HomeBrewers team to the last thread created for us, and everything else will go in the chat forum.

Also, thanks for the links and the explanation regarding computation of points.

MERRY CHRISTMAS TO ALL, before I sign off here.

Cheers.
