WU size for Windows BOINC

I've found that everage WU size is 4-5 Mb. It's too much for modem
Sometimes, WU's gets processed before next WU downloaded. And processor just stand idle.

first time, I've decided that it's a Rosetta application, but the same happened 5 times one after another.

Is it a real size of workunit for BOINC-based Rosetta?

Re: WU size for Windows BOINC

It is about average size, I see that you are using BOINC. As you can see by my sig there are many different projects which you can attach. If you want a quick WU I would suggest Sztaki, on my onld P III a WU took about one hour whilst the most is climate which on my P5 machine is going to ake about 1500 hrs CPU time. I would suggest that you look for another project so the machine is not running on empty.

Re: WU size for Windows BOINC

Hello ooDAV,
All that I know is that Viktors once posted that BOINC does not compress the files that it sends, whereas the UD Windows files are compressed. The FightAIDS@Home work units are very small. If I were on dialup, that would be my preferred project.

It's only my 4th PC with BOINC. I'll start to think about other projects when I'll move more workstations to BOINC.

OK. Let's wait for Windows BOINC FAAH version

Re: WU size for Windows BOINC

WCG does not support Teamstats for BOINC. Credits are counted for useres and hosts but not for teams. Many BOINC-Teams lost interest for this project because of this situation.
Will the BOINC-teamstats ever be available?
"...Perhaps in the future ..., however, for now we will not have the team file available" is the answer you will get from WCG - if you ask.

Well, I will be back in a year or two and have a look again - perhaps.

Re: WU size for Windows BOINC

WCG is a newcomer in the BOINC arena and is working very hard to get "up to speed" with all the things around the BOINC agent.

WCG is also working very hard to bring on new projects like the recently added FAAH.

So it is not a matter of WCG slighting one project or another or one agent or another or for that matter one language or another. There are just a great many things on the work slate and by the very nature of development; some get worked on now and some a bit later.

I would hope that potential contributors not be put off by this rapidly decreasing immaturity but rather see the cause that we are working for as worth tolerating the temporary inconveniencies.
