Re: Crunchers Inc........Boinc to the future

How do you do this convert?

I have a digital-8 camera that will play either the digital-8 or the older analog 8mm tapes. It has a firewire that I connect to the computer.

For VHS, I have a video capture card (with red-white-yellow jacks) that allows a VHS player to be plugged into the computer too.

For software, I use Pinnacle Studio - it can capture from either the digital or analog source to the hard-drive as an AVI file. From there, just edit it down, add menus, chapters, and then let it render to a DVD-compatible format. Can then burn to DVD with Studio, or I prefer Nero because Nero will run a 'verify after write' to ensure that I got a good burn.

It is very time consuming because the render time is about 3 hours for each hour of actual video, so I generally capture and edit during the day, then let it run the render overnight.

Re: Crunchers Inc........Boinc to the future

Oh, one more thing: the latest version of Studio (10) looks like it is for Win XP ONLY. I am running version 8 on my Win 2000 computer.

Hi there USAFA! You should have known that I would eventually end up here. biggrin
