Hello Ajeb,
Your title says that this has happened many times. Is this something that happens every time? Have you tried reinstalling BOINC? Is BOINC successfully creating files in your directory? Lawrence |

It looks strongly like you have a corrupt work unit. My recommendation is to open BOINC Manager, select the WCG project and click "Reset Project". This will delete all the project files (these get left if you simply reinstall) and download fresh copies and a new work unit.
Before you do that, though: please tell us which work unit it is. There may be a problem with the batch. |

There may be a problem with the batch. I had about 18 work units fail before I noticed and hit "No New Work". I checked in results status and they are being processed by others without trouble. So I seem to be having the problem. I've been running for about a month without trouble. I see that my claimed credit went throught the roof before this error happened. Seems to have happened about the time I detached from Climate after they had some WU issues. I think something is off on my machine. I'll try reinstalling Boinc and resetting WCG project. Wish me luck and thanks for the help. Andrew |

Andrew I found the problem and letting everyone know in case they run into it. I updated my AOL safety and security package about the time this all happened and it takes up a ton of memory and seems to also have a memory leak. This used up not just my physical ram but all of my paging file. WCG had nothing to run with and threw errors... running fine now Andrew |

Hello Kaoh,
Your English is fine. Since you have reset your project, I have only 2 suggestions. First, download some diagnostic programs from the Useful Utilities thread at http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=2490 In particular: 2) CPU Tester: http://7byte.com/index.php?page=download General diagnostic program 3) Memory Tester: http://www.memtest86.com/ Memory diagnostic program Secondly, record your errors (use cut and paste). If nothing turms up in the diagnostic tests, then you will want to send the error list using a 'Contact Us' email to see if the WCG staff can make anything of it. Lawrence |

hmm...I run 1 round cpu test a moment ago,
----------------------------------------No error found. So is memory test (I use Microsoft memtest some days ago) I feel weird, because I also run the other boinc projects Especially CPDN seasonal, which equipment request is high, and I don't get any error code. I suspect my memory or motherboard has some problem, but I have run a lot of weeks, errors seldom appear.. so it is difficult to "catch the suspect".. just now,I find rosetta job hang("freeze" is exactly meaning...) at 4.7% for 1 hour.... After restart it, now it is 6.29%..?! There must be something strange with my computer... These errors never happened before March this year.. but during that time I never made "big" hardward change (Video card?FX5200 to FX5500) Any way, thanks for your answer ![]() ![]() [Edit 5 times, last edit by Kaoh at May 21, 2006 2:38:20 PM] |

Don't put too much weight on the progress. The completion time and progress are only estimates, and are rather inaccurate. They are most inaccurate at the beginning of a work unit, before the heuristic has a handle on how long each checkpoint is taking.
What's of more concern is the errors. The error is a memory violation, which means there is a problem with the actual FAAH code - whether is is particular to the work units you have been getting, or is caused by a conflict with another program. The only programs that mess around with running programs tends to be security and antivirus programs, which is why they tend to be the culprits. Either way, I'm sure the grid techs will want a closer look. Hunt down the log files. Their name and location is dependent on your setup, but should have stdout and stderr in the filenames. Feel free to post further here, or go straight to the "Contact Us" page. |
