Re: Fixing Country Code

Dear Sir / Madam commentors.....i'm sorry, but if the original software is made in the US or has technologies in it that origin in the US and fall under any of these various export restriction acts of the USA, not even a third party buyer may pass this on knowingly or conceivable suspecting, or as its called carrying a "red flag", not confirmed to eventually be green, it may not be brought in or made available to these restricted countries or its citizens......other than that, as i've been reading also about more US legislative madness, 1030 e.g........

IBM can get around by applying for an exemption, but probably only for those OS platforms that not also suffer from restrictions. That said, it's known, that e.g. oil company reps have had exemptions, the key being: You better get One, Up Front!

Didactylos.....its all about source!!!!!! Further, if IBM, say France (as the French anyway give a darn about US law) would entertain this, and any of its employees would come to the US, they are in harms way! Humanitarian my A...s. Look how the "developed" international community deals with whats happening in Dafur sad

My advise is, refrain from saying anything suggesting an il-legal by-pass! You could find yourself in harms way with uncle U-SAM!

Its probably over to you Didactylos, because I did not understand most of the rest of it

Re: Fixing Country Code

Update: stats no show country as "International" again.
I am not sure what is going on, I updated EAH and LHC profiles and never touched WCG profile ....
At this point, I'd rather have my WCG account/stats deleted alltogether ... any ideas?

Re: Fixing Country Code

piankhy, I had a look at your BOINCstats statistics. As expected, the other two projects show you as a Sudanese resident. WCG shows you as "International". The combined stats also show you as "International".

This is all perfectly normal. WCG aren't saying you belong to some "International" group. The exported data from WCG leaves the country blank, just like the selector box. If you're really not happy with this, there are a couple of things you can do:

1. Change your registered WCG email address. I haven't tested this, but your cross-project ID should change, and after a couple of days, BOINCstats should exclude your WCG results from your combined results, and you will get your flag back.

2. Report the problem to BOINCstats. They should be able to provide a work-around for the case where other projects provide a country, but WCG give a blank country. It will probably take them a while to get around to it, though.

Re: Fixing Country Code

Didactylos, thanks for your help ....
I just changed my e-mail address, but the CPID is still the same on my profile page. I am not sure if the CPID should change on the fly or takes hours/days to change ....
I'll wait a couple of days and see what happens.

Cheers

Deleting Account

Sorry to dig this thread up again. Refering to the original question "is it possible to delete your account permanently"

Is it? I'd like to get rid of my account, and want to know how to go about doing this.

Cheers,

Torm

Re: Deleting Account

Hello tormentum,
Right now there is no way to delete a member name. Perhaps in time something will be done to reduce the number of dead accounts, but it is still over the horizon.
