First time we've seen 106 + years at the 3/4 mark

Bodes well for a new record World Community Grid Run Time in the early hours (UK time)

(Full of cold - I'll be asleep)

Night

Re: First time we've seen 106 + years at the 3/4 mark

Dave, you mean this from the Global Statistics History?

Statistics Date Total Run Time (y:d:h:m:s) Points Generated Results Returned
05/16/2006 138:335:20:34:23 35,205,208 142,895

Is that a record? Appears to be as it's a nice bit above those two days last month that must have been record breakers. Interesting how much things fall off on the weekends. Lots of folks shut their machines down then obviously.

Re: First time we've seen 106 + years at the 3/4 mark

Great work!! cool cool Let's push the boundary a little further every week.

[frustration-mode]
But it's staying difficult to motivate some people, my experience is that lots of so called "national organisations" only care about money.
I have sent emails with a lot of explanations and references to some AIDS/HIV-related organisations and never had any reply. So as long as you don't send them money, they're not interested. confused The least they could do is reply a short email and explaining why they're not interested...
Well, those kinds of organisations do not deserve to get money from me, so I can spend a few more Euros on electricity for the good cause. wink

Re: First time we've seen 106 + years at the 3/4 mark

Hi depriens I share your frustration. I have emailed a number of organisations along the way that I thought would be interested in our work here - nothing, and like you say no reply.

We just have to keep on kicking and fighting here until the Cavalry turn up.

I'll start to worry once those WCG records stop being broken then we have a real problem. However lots of projects queued up ready to (almost) go so we will have plenty to shout about over the summer in the Northern Hemisphere (which was a quiet time last year with the numbers dropping off as the northerners went on Holiday).

I get a regular newsletter email from one organisation telling me how to eat better to avoid cancer - maybe there is some truth in this, but is kind of annoying given what we are trying to achieve here and we never get a mention

Don't be discouraged just because organisations you contact don't reply to you. For all you know, they might be considering your idea or may even be in contact with WCG directly. As many of those organisations are underfunded, they might not have the resources to reply to you. Keep writing and contacting, it can't hurt.
