Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

Marcelle, have you checked that BOINC and UD are not being blocked by the Windows Firewall? You could try disabling it to see if that makes a difference. However, make sure that you have either Windows Firewall or a third-party firewall active before you leave the box active active on a permanent internet connection...

Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

giddie,

Good thought... yes, I have. Windows firewall was off thanks to Norton but just incase I manually shut them both down for 30min with no luck. I'm hoping to take another shot at it Thursday. I'm busy all day tomorrow. We'll see.

Hi Marcelle

Your UD Install prob has been sorted by IBM, a shiny new license doc has been fitted to the IBM Servers so UD should be back on the cards

Let us know how you get on

Welcome all to 2007

Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

Dave,

You're amazing! I fired up the PC that had been giving me problems and the UD agent linked up perfectly and started downloading a work unit. Thanks for your help. Now we have yet another PC working for us all.

Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

Hi Marcelle

I can't take the credit blushing Lawrence was on it like a shot. I discovered it as I've been doing that "fixing a PC thing" which us PC types always get involved in at Church and UD is still the easiest and prettiest cruncher to install.

Must remember next time to not say when fixing a laptop "Don't worry I have a cable for that PSU at home" d oh All those crunching hours missed as a result rolling eyes

Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

Well then I guess a big "Thanks" goes out to Lawrence! Now if I can only just get UD to use more than 50% of the CPU when we're sitting idle. I noticed during the "BOINC blackout of late 2006" biggrin, when I switched a few of my PCs over to UD that all of them ran at a max of 50%. I know it's been a while since I've looked at either of my 2 UD machines but I'm sure back in the "pre-BOINC age" all my UD machines were hitting 100% except when on an HT PC?

Oh well, at least it's running something! smile

Hope you had a good lunch Dave. It just passed my breakfast time and I'm alreay ready for a nap. sleep

Marcelle:

WCG has throttled the CPU usage back by default on new installations. There was a problem with laptop computers that were responding to 100% demand by throttling back the clock, thus actually slowing the computers down. See this thread for info, and the utility to set the CPU usage to 100%

Re: Christians are giving... come give with us!

Just great crunching

That's another 319 work units towards the hope of finding cures and treatments for Cancer, HIV/AID's and Muscular Dystrophy directly and many other breakthroughs through the HPF and FCG projects.

Thanks Team peace

Let's keep 'em crunching

To borrow and twist slightly a catchphrase of the great Mr Bruce Forsyth
