MMar, look for the WCG Clinic thread on this forum....there is a volunteer group developing a multilingual Wiki. The roughs are already up at [WCG Wiki It is aimed to have as many languages as translators and proofreaders can be found. Even Arab is in the works.
----------------------------------------Yes, i have a reasonable good understanding of inglese but, here still a majority does not....french in fact is better for most, if they do a foreign language, even german, because of historical events. ciao

I believe that more languages will help us to inscrease the amount of computers runing those projects. I have introduced to many of my friends but it seems that English-only explaination is the biggest problem for them. Language translation for this forum could be hard to developers because of new posts keep coming up. But it isn't that difficult for the developers to add several extra languages to the agents.(At least I am happy to help translating it into Traditional Chinese) I hope UD can become a excellence multi-language agent.(or have multi-language installation guides on WCG)

UD is unlikely to become a multi-language agent, but BOINC already supports many, many languages.

32 locales per the BOINC beta 5.5.9 install including 6 versions of Chinese and Ja-panese. Naturelmente It-alian, the most beautiful of all (i'm biased ;>) ).

I believe that more languages will help us to inscrease the amount of computers runing those projects. I have introduced to many of my friends but it seems that English-only explaination is the biggest problem for them. +1 Non-native needs translation of main contents such as "top page", "explanation of research", "introduction of developers" and "my grid". First, index written in native language could motivate non-english-native to participate the project. Second, without understanding of the research explanation, we won't contribute to the project. At last, if our details aren't written in native language, it must be hard to know how much we contribute to the project. Frankly saying, contents written in native language directly connect with motivation. Forum needn't be translated. Rather, it can't be. Given translating automatically over the forums, thanks to its cheap technology, it must cause us to misunderstand each other ![]() Let alone in developed countries, in developing countries witness the huge increase of the number of the Internet users and therefore that of the participants in distributed computing. According to stats, Japan and France, where English isn't national language, are among top 10 countries for the present. So translating into at least these languages is desirable. There may be more people who can participate in the project only if the contents were provided in the native languages ![]() What do you think on the points? |

Hello all
![]() According to the post on the forum hosted by Free-DC, there are several projects, including WCG, translated into Chinese by a BOINC participant. If the translation hasn't started yet, how about asking the translator to use the resource? This must be great help ![]() Thanks for reading, suguruhirahara |
