Cancer module uses large amounts of memory

Anybody else notice the cancer module is using large amounts of memory.
I happened to notice my primary laptop has been sluggish lately so I started checking on what was running and what was being used for memory and CPU. (Oh ya, love the new CPU throttle settings by the way, vast improvement over the past throttle settings.)
Now about memory, right now I am running a cancer module and the memroy usage is:

Real Memeory -- approx 260.4 MB
Virtual Memeory -- approx 265.7 MB

Now, I don't have a problem with the VM usage, but that real memory usage is totaly outrageous....

Anybody else have any thoughts on this?

Re: Cancer module uses large amounts of memory

It does, doesn't it?

That's why the miminum system requirements are so high for this project.

The memory use is as low as it can be. This is complicated science we're doing, which is why the grid exists at all.

Re: Cancer module uses large amounts of memory

Hi tcharron,
The reason the minimum requirement to run HDC is 750 MB is that the program regularly spikes to 500+ MB while running filters and checkpointing. Rick Alther says that it used to go to 1.25 GB before he and the Rutgers University team cut it down for boarding for the grid.
