BOINC Manager "Message" Problem

In the BOINC manager under "Messages" every minute I get "Scheduler request failed: couldn't resolve host name", and then: "Deferring scheduler requests for 1 minute and 0 seconds". This is like the Enegizer bunny, keeps going and going....
I must have something set wrong somewhere because I have thousands of these messages since I install BOINC on 8/6. Everything else seems to be working fine, I'm getting results and I have 1 WU "working" and 5 "ready to run". Has anyone else had this problem?

confused Re: BOINC Manager "Message" Problem

Hello BobMcG,
'Sending scheduler request to https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/wcgrid_cgi/fcgi '
This always succeeds on my machine.

This is what I have, and how do I delete all of these entries?

Re: BOINC Manager "Message" Problem

Don't worry about them. When your computer is rebooted, the messages will go away and the log will start over. A brief pause may be encountered while it does a CPU speed test.

Do not reboot just for the sake of rebooting unless the system has become sluggish, etc. Current projects do not have very many checkpoints, and some work could be lost.

Re: BOINC Manager "Message" Problem

Exit BOINC , wait a minute and then restart BOINC. That will start the log over and remove all the old messages. It MIGHT even fix the problem with the "Unable to resolve..." message. If not, try a reboot. Don't worry about losing a bit of work

That message indicates it is having trouble contacting the server that sends you work units. I know for a fact that server is up and running at this time and has been for the past few days so it is definitely not a matter of the server being down. Also, you have work units so your computer has been able to contact the server at some point since you installed BOINC.

Are you using a proxy server? If so, have you changed any of those settings? What operating system are you using? What anti-virus/spyware software are you using?
