Re: Minnesota Crunchers

You guys are weenies. Just get some beefy UPS devices and run them through hell and high water. biggrin

One time back in Rochester a storm knocked out power but not cable, so I EMAILED the electric company to notify them of the outage. Awesome. (Phone line was constantly busy signal).

I have laptop avec two doulbebatties and 3G dongle, so I can go 12h even if my house would burn down...
So I can order warm food without leaving confornt of my home's ruins.

Beside I'm sure that my new 3G is even faster'n than your crappy phone line..

I meant phone line was busy as in I called them and got a busy signal because the line was flooded with hundreds of other callers trying to tell them the same thing. Nothing to do with internet bandwidth. I don't even have a "phone line", only a cellular phone. My internet is 16Mb/sec cable, though oddly I've seen 19Mb/sec+ at times.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

So I went and bought a couple items for my birdwatching.
Camera: Canon Rebel T1i
Lens: Canon 100-400mm IS f/4.5-5.6
Now I just need to learn how to use the darn things... thinking
Going here
in a few weeks to check out the Thunder Cape Bird Observatory. Give my camera a workout.

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Hey folks, bad news. Sold my mac pro that I use to crunch. Needed the money for my new panasonic hmc 150 camcorder. 7 cores not crunching for the team. Since my video editing mac pro is in the bedroom, to hot to run until winter. Hopefully I can get back crunching soon. Might try and build one with the old xeon chips i have from when i upgraded the old beast to an octo.

Money is one of the limiting factors in this endeavor. We trust you'll be back as soon as you are able. Hope you can build one with Xeons.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Going to try running during the day on my editing machine, unless I am editing. 7 cores back crunching. Trying for my green badge for clean energy before that one shuts down. biggrin

With 7 cores going, hopefully you make it. Should be about 2 to 3 weeks left on this project.

Cheers

Re: Minnesota Crunchers

Is there a page where one could look how much work left for each project?
I wonder in which order should I run the projects to get more/better badges.

Thanks

Sek's pie charts are what I use. The project end times are an estimate but are close.
Oh yeah, a magnify glass may be needed to read the stats. wink
