This is a non-technical question:
I'm curious to know the demand WCG receives to have new projects hosted? I noticed the new "Upcoming Project" in the Beta testing stats, and I was wondering how frequently new projects are added. Also, is there any speculation as to what this project may be? Thanks, Ryan |

Hello RyanMcCabe,
'Demand' is still being determined. In another 2 years or so we may have an idea. Currently there are 2 new projects in the pipeline. Others are still in preliminary discussions. Experience will teach us how many we can run simultaneously and how often we can add new projects. There is a lot of labor involved in starting up a project and a fair amount to handle the day-to-day details while running it. As for speculation, so far everyone has wanted their project kept private until their public relations people make the big announcement. I suspect that the researchers go along with this because it eliminates one source of deadline pressure. But that just might be an idiosyncratic idea of a tired old programmer. However, it probably is one of the reasons we cheerfully agree to nondisclosure. We always hope for a big public announcement that will bring in a flood of new computers.
