Re: smilesmile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 30 smilesmile

I'm looking at the issue of converting our existing points milestones to credit milestones to go along with the coming conversion at WCG. Unfortunately, dividing by 7 doesn't give nice round numbers:

   POINTS CREDITS
25,000 3,571
50,000 7,142
75,000 10,714
100,000 14,285
200,000 28,571
250,000 35,714
300,000 42,857
400,000 57,142
500,000 71,428
600,000 85,714
700,000 100,000
750,000 107,142
800,000 114,285
900,000 128,571
1,000,000 142,857
We go in half million increments up to 10,000,000 and the one million increments up to 20,000,000. With Gerald closing in on 24,000,000 points, we need to add more room at the top. We also need to keep the stepped approach so that our milestones provide recognition and encouragement to crunchers at all levels - from the "when my machine at work is idle" to the "run my own server farm" types. I'm thinking about credit milestones like this:

   CREDITS POINTS
2,500 17,500
5,000 35,000
7,500 52,500
10,000 70,000
15,000 105,000
20,000 140,000
25,000 175,000
30,000 210,000
35,000 245,000
40,000 280,000
45,000 315,000
50,000 350,000
60,000 420,000
70,000 490,000
80,000 560,000
90,000 630,000
100,000 700,000
120,000 840,000
140,000 980,000
160,000 1,120,000
180,000 1,260,000
200,000 1,400,000
250,000 1,750,000
300,000 2,100,000
350,000 2,450,000
400,000 2,800,000
450,000 3,150,000
500,000 3,500,000
600,000 4,200,000
700,000 4,900,000
800,000 5,600,000
900,000 6,300,000
1,000,000 7,000,000
1,100,000 7,700,000
1,200,000 8,400,000
1,300,000 9,100,000
1,400,000 9,800,000
1,500,000 10,500,000
1,600,000 11,200,000
1,700,000 11,900,000
1,800,000 12,600,000
1,900,000 13,300,000
2,000,000 14,000,000
2,250,000 15,750,000
2,500,000 17,500,000
2,750,000 19,750,000
3,000,000 21,000,000
3,250,000 22,750,000
3,500,000 24,500,000
3,750,000 26,250,000
4,000,000 28,000,000
4,500,000 31,500,000
5,000,000 35,000,000
5,500,000 38,500,000
6,000,000 42,000,000
6,500,000 45,500,000
7,000,000 49,000,000
7,500,000 52,500,000
8,000,000 56,000,000
8,500,000 59,500,000
9,000,000 63,000,000
9,500,000 66,500,000
10,000,000 70,000,000

As you can see, that would have Gerald approaching 3,500,000 credits with room to about triple his accumulated crunching. I think the initial values would do well with the smaller crunchers and new ones starting out. I think we'd see a slight increase in the occurrance of the new milestones but not too much. We could also use this same scale for our other 14 projects we are at as well! The only thing I can see that would create a need beyond 10,000,000 credits in the near future would be having a combined-across-all-15-projects milestone set but I think we'll be okay for long enough even there. For the immediate future, I'd only be able to track milestones for just WCG. Eventually, once the website is tracking results for all the projects, it could handle all those milestones too. I think the net is that we end up with nice round milestones for credits and something that should meet our needs for the next couple of years or so. Anyone have any complaints, suggestions, or thoughts on this????

Keith, how do you feel about designing some sort of certificate with MOT's logo, the user's name, and the points/credits and runtime?

Keith -- that looks good to me, but I will go along with whatever you want since you are the one that will be doing all the work,

Good mornin'. As you would expect, it will be a lot cooler here. I think 60 will be a stretch. Hope you get that rain, DM.

EDIT: @RT: You are not being included in MOT at BOINCStats. sad I searched "RT" and there are 27 RT's and none of them are at MOT. You might want to go here, enter your user name in the upper left and see if you can sort it out. smile

In a quote from the previous "Paper"
A quiet end to the month and quarter! Nice showing by RT and Mushball!

Thanks. Have cranked up some machines I normally don't run just to see how much I could produce. I will be shutting one of them back down in a few days as I am worried about the fans in it (Laptop).

As to BOINC Stats, I don’t think I care; I did a bunch at SETI at one time and then a ton at UD before finding WCG. UD (Grid.org ) ran out of work once and kept sending out the same old work units time and again just to keep us busy.. I left them when I found out we were just spinning our wheels and we could have been contributing elsewhere.

As to the political problems/financial markets, I distrust both candidates and parties. I, distrust Obama even more than I distrust McCain and both were complicit with the whole sub-prime issue...Evidence suggests OBama more than McCain.

Anyway, who can tell truth from fiction in our spin world? Oh well, it is just my income/taxes/healthcare they are screwing around with; so it is no big deal.

It occurs to me that being a pure-bred pessimist gives you a significant advantage when considering our federal government...it makes you seem almost clairvoyant.

Have a good day all – an old Irish saying “Hooray Anyway”
