I am curious about one thing. I have four computers, all using
Boinc, running 24/7. Only one PC at the moment is with WCG. The other three are running with Climateprediction.net. I am thinking of taking one of my core i-7 machines to go with the one I have running with WCG right now. On my first pc I selected only the CEP. I would like to run the other PC with just the project on conquering cancer. Is it possible to somehow select for one pc to run just one project and no others? I wanted these to be dedicated clients to those two projects, each running just one project. Is this possible and how an I do that? Thx in advance!!! Cheers Bill |

Go into My Grid>>Device Manager>>Device Profiles and set up 2 different profiles. The one you are using now is likely called "default" so just select "school" and set it up how you would like it for the second machine. Then once the second machine is attached and showing up in "My Grid", you can change it's profile to "school".

Thx Xs for letting me know how to do this. I will give it a shot when my other pc is done running the WUs it has now and then bring it over to WCG.

{snip} Is it possible to somehow select for one pc to run just one project and no others? I wanted these to be dedicated clients to those two projects, each running just one project. Is this possible and how an I do that? Thx in advance!!! Cheers Bill You can make a profile for every machine beyond the number provided on the My Grid->Device Manager->Device Profiles page. Implementing the non-stock profiles currently requires a kludge, though. e.g. you have to File->Save As... (type HTML Only) the My Grid->Device Manager page as a local file and make some edits to it. See http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread?thread=25839 Also, after that be careful not to use the My Grid->My Projects (SIC) selector or it will change ALL of your profiles to run the tasks selected there. |

Thx Zoso! I just added another pc, but not a core i-7 one. For now I am letting it run just the Conquer Cancer project WU. When the CEP sotware issues are fixed, then I will let my first pc run just that and this pc run the cancer project. Thx again!

Then once the second machine is attached and showing up in "My Grid", you can change it's profile to "school". To add to that a little, you will need to click on/fill the dot for "custom profile" when you are in the "school" profile. That lets you customize the project/projects, cache size, etc. It's really much simpler than it sounds. Just open up the CEP profile that you have & look at how it is set up & the assorted buttons to click. Then if in "school" you see something similar you'll know that you're on the right track. |
