I will have one of.my. 680's in by the end of the week, and I was wondering if WCG supports boinc 7.x, since I've heard this is required for it to be recognized by the boinc software. Also I am wondering if anyone has returned a.positive beta Wu using this gpu, (i know they've been focusing mainly on ATI so far).
And if it is supported by 7.x, which version should I get (im assuming there's more than one)? |

By the time the several GPU betas were running, that card wasn't still on the market. It should be supported by WCG's BOINC v6.10.58.

Forgot Betas weren't running then, but since the card is new, I have been seeing many problems with the BOINC code not correctly recognizing the GPU (its GFLOPS, erroring out, etc.) on different projects.

It's necessary that your pilot is imperatively up to date. It is really too early to have information on this kind of GPU and it driver will be able to only evolve.

It was reported that v7.0.23 did give wrong FLOPS-estimates, so v7.0.24 includes some code-fixes for 680-cards, but not sure if even more changes than present in v7.0.24 is needed... There's no linux-version out yet, and due to a Mac-specific bug there's a 7.0.25 out for Mac. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Interesting was the note by Dr. A, that NVidia does not maintain an API [like ATI does] that allows to query the card information... high hands on maint it seems for the BOINC developers.

So I'm assuming this may be a wait and see what happens situation? Up to boinc devs? Time I have though, so not an issue I guess.

If it works, I hope this doesn't come as a shock...
----------------------------------------Not surprisingly, then, the OpenGL-based LuxMark 2.0 benchmark shows the GeForce GTX 680 dragging across the finish line. In comparison, the GeForce GTX 580/590’s GF110 GPU is better-suited to general-purpose compute tasks. And Nvidia argues it’d rather sell you a workstation-oriented Quadro card or dedicated Tesla-based board. We’d counter that AMD’s Radeon HD 7900-series cards are, at least from a performance perspective, clearly viable alternatives in this particular workload (not to mention a lot cheaper). http://www.tomshardware.com/reviews/geforce-g...ew-benchmark,3161-15.html |

LuxMark uses FP64, which does not matter for the HCC GPU app, since it uses FP32. Sandra 2012 uses 32-bit for benching:
