I have just installed Boinc to one of my desktops. I used the latest recommended version for windows 8, version 7. something. While installing, i changed the settings to have Boinc to my 2 hard drive, not the primary hard drive where my operating system is. Once that was done, i had to restart, and once I did that, I cannot boot into windows. Was there something that I did wrong, and is there something that I can do to fix this and get back into my Operating system, and use Boinc?
Or should I have never installed this software? Please help. |

Try booting in safe mode and take it from there..... I would but its acting as there is no operating system at all. When I boot, I just goes to a blinking curser, nothing more. |

There are no error messages, no troubleshooting options, no safe mode. What it does it it shows my motherboard company, which is Asus, then it goes to a black screen where there is a white curser on the top left corne. That's all it does. |

Ok so that means that it is going to windows if it has a cursor.
----------------------------------------Have you tried CTRL-ALT-DEL to see if it brings up task manager/options? AMD Ryzen 5 1600AF 6C/12T 3.2 GHz - 85W AMD Ryzen 5 2500U 4C/8T 2.0 GHz - 28W AMD Ryzen 7 7730U 8C/16T 3.0 GHz |

Ok so that means that it is going to windows if it has a cursor. Have you tried CTRL-ALT-DEL to see if it brings up task manager/options? Not necessarily (I think). That sounds like some sort of hardware problem. I would check all the internal connections, maybe re-seat all the memory and see if that changes things. If that did not work, if it was me, I would take out the hard drive and try it on another system. Good luck. Cheers

Though I doubt it is a hardware problem, I built this computer myself. I just don't get how after the restart and installation of WCG this happened. I installed it successfully on my current machine (one I'm using now) |

I had them same problem a while ago (6 or so months ago) on a vista computer. It was a virus, IT HAD NOTHING TO DO WITH BONIC. The virus only showed up on a restart ie new program install, and restart. Use google and put in the seach "virus blinking cursor" you will find several was of fixing it. I only thing I remember doing was using a USB stick and putting the fix on there and boot from the USB.

I tried to get help from Microsoft, and they always want people to give them money. You may be right. But how can I get a virus? I don't install anything unless its from top companies. I have windows defender. But I hear that this is not secure at all. |

^ Hope you're not running Internet Explorer and using some type of noscript/adblock add-on. I've installed BOINC a number of times on different setups and that has never happened. Try testing your RAM
