Agreed. If you have the means go for it. It's OK to be a little envious. Jealousy is just a petty emotion. We all wish we could do more. Mamajuana go for it!

I really dislike the idea of promoting competition Hopefully this will promote the Sig and a little competiton (sic) This project is about cooperating together to get results not about who invests the most money. Its easy to be #1 here at WCG. All you need is to budget $200,000 for a new rack-mounted server farm and the cash to pay the electrical bills. Its money that makes you #1, not effort or interest or competition. Yeah, your Gflops are better than mine. Way better. But I figure the scientists are a lot happier about my 250,000 results than your 129,000. I think that because I have more results. You will think your flops are more important. IMHO, I find promoting competition is juvenile and demeaning, but we may need to disagree. Heck we can't even be recognized for what we have done already. Astrolabe... you are entitled to your opinion, but I don't agree with you. There is nothing wrong with competition. If you think competition is "juvenile and demeaning", then you probably don't approve or watch the Olympics Games. Any help that the crunchers can give the WCG, either it be 1 WU a day or a 1000 WUs a day, is goodness. Most of us are here for the good will and the fun (which is the case of Mamajuana). It's sad that you think poorly of fellow crunchers. CJSL Gotta keep crunching... there's a world to save !!! ---------------------------------------- [Edit 1 times, last edit by cjslman at Mar 8, 2014 4:36:31 AM] |

Do you have any idea of how many people might actually qualify? I ask because I have 3 dualie servers and 2 PCs running and I don't even get close to 400gig. Even if I added the rigs that are currently idle, I doubt I'd break 500.
----------------------------------------Getting contributions from Ripple Labs might offset that some but the way the exchange rate has been going, I haven't actually seen and increase in what my total amount of XRPs are worth in the last fews weeks at least. So right now I'm standing still in terms of their net value. The only thing I have to pay for is the cost of electricity, which around here isn't cheap and even I don't really feel like upping my game, so to say. I might revive a few rigs once Slicify is out of beta to see what they have to offer, but when your electricity bill even w/o crunching is hundreds of bucks per month, it's hard to get too excited about adding more rigs. ![]() ![]() |

BTW, there are a lot of retired members of this club, when there was a WCG GPU project.

How many may qualify? - See the SNURK Sig rankings page (I've sorted by Gflops) Here Any and all contributions, small are otherwise are all equally valuable to the project scientists, we all crunch for different reasons. Electricity here isn't cheap either, I know where you're coming from on that one... This thread is aimed at anyone who want's to join in the 'Fun' howerer, those near the top of the list are the ones that may, with a little effort be able to join the '1T Club' however, those who may be close but don't have a SNURK Sig, may be prompted to join the 'Fun' and request a sig... |

Thanks M. But what I meant was how many WCG'ers total might qualify.
----------------------------------------I know that the gflops info isn't available for people who don't have a Snurk sig, but I thought maybe someone had made a guestimate based on ppd or something like that. Just curious. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

BTW, there are a lot of retired members of this club, when there was a WCG GPU project. ![]() Yep, I have 25.3M points in HCC on my other account, I would have been one to qualify at that point most likely... I think it can only be current members unless we can get the data/qualification made 'Sticky' so it remains even if someone drops out of the 1T zone. May be one for SNURK... Got my signature now, not quite at the 1T mark. I'm happy with the output though using all home built systems and paying for all the electric.
