I have been working hard as a member of WCC since 12/19/2005 to achieve a position of 24 overall on Points. And I am proud of my Contribution to WCG. I have done this all on my own, with various computers I have built from parts, in my home over the years (with a huge electrical bill to support it). Yesterday I was passed by the first Ripple Labs wonder who joined WCG on 11/17/2013, joining less than 4 months ago.
---------------------------------------- I am now 25 overall on points and expect to be pushed even farther back, over the next 90 days as seven more of the recently joined Ripple Labs participants are expected to pass me. I do not have enough money to generate over a million points a day, unless I win the lottery, or WCG brings back GPU processing. It is great that WCG is getting this kind of contributions, and I hope they keep coming, the contributions by the recently joined ripple labs participants is huge.....just a little bit of a disappointment.     |

You have a lot to be proud of, mclaver.

You are the type of cruncher WCG needs...genuinely caring about the research done and not just concerned with what you will get in return for your time/money. Keep on crunching... :)  |

Firstly, you are right to be proud of your achievement, but don't be disappointed, your contribution remains remarkable and none the less valid, just because a new member or two have been able to overtake you in some ranking list!
I monitor my position, but only for fun, my contribution is no different, whether I'm at number 2000 or 200, the same as yours! One thing I do is speak to friends and have them host one of my machines at their home or office to help with the electric bill. It also allows them to contribute without having to manage the PC... Keep crunching... |

Keep up with what? You're doing great. If you're not on the Ripple Team, then points are useless. Points are fun to toss around with friends, but otherwise they're useless (except for some advanced calculations that some members use). It's not a competition... you contribute as much as you can with what you have. Just enjoy it.
