Wauw, thunder7! It's beautiful

I think I have enough bonus gigabytes with easynews to last me several lifetimes now, but I haven't found a reason for switching teams... I have the perfect solution to your dilemma, thunder7. Base Camp makes treks to other teams occasionally - currently a number of Base Campers crunch with top40.nl and we are in two challenges, where we are doing very well. After a trek each cruncher returns to his home team. How is that for an idea? A home team and going places with Base Camp in between? ![]() |

For the readers from other groups, the Easynews group is / was a corporate initiative by the company. The service charged by the gigabyte of data downloaded through their service. They offered half a gig of download for free to customers for every 14 days of crunching for the team. Thank you for this very good explanation, PeaceRiverGuy That's how I got into WCG and it saved me a fair penny over time. I stopped visiting Usenet more than a few years ago and am no longer an Easynews customer, but stay on with the team in thanks for their corporate responsibility in supporting this initiative. ![]() Now that's a very nice story and show of corporate responsibility. I like that concept and wording: Corporate responsibility ![]() |

Yes, it's hollow, suitable for dried flowers or, with a glass inner vase, for wet flowers as well.
It that team Base Camp or team Base Camp HQ when I search for the team on worldcommunitygrid.nl? Both seem very inactive, with <10 results per day. If I went there, the team would be me, basically. |

Base Camp HQ doesn't work any more. The ghost captain left without leaving his key.
Base Camp was established two days ago for that reason. We want our Base Campers to join the team we trek with and not Base Camp. You just stick with your home team - in your case Easynews between the treks you want to take part in. We are a loosely connected Motley crew changing from trek to trek. If you would like to try it out, you could join top40.nl. We expect the trek to finish on December 26 when everybody leaves poor temporary captain adriverhoef You can follow what we have in mind in the Base Camp team thread - see my signature. We have a Facebook group, but it doesn't function yet. We had a forum. That was destroyed by a Murder&Demolition scheme. Where do you find the wood for your projects? |

This tree was taken down on a golf-course, and the maintenance team hoped to sell it for resawing into table-tops, but could find no one willing to retrieve the log. it may have been a little short. They were thinking about selling as firewood, when I noticed it on a local internet site.

Did it suffer from Dutch Elm Disease?
Well, probably not. You would like healthy wood for your projects. That wiped out all our elms in Denmark. A good deal of them were carved into sculptures with chain saws. They are not durable in the long run, so now they cement or whatever the best of them. Some get a copper cladding ![]() |

Dutch Elm Disease is a big problem. At the same time, some techniques have been discovered to inoculate trees, and not all trees suffer from it. This tree was relatively fast growing, and no more than 30-40 years old. Most stories about Dutch Elm Disease lament the fact that pre-WW II trees must be taken down. For me, any wood is usable, provided it's not too fare gone and sponge-like soft. Wood from Elms with Dutch Elm Disease is usable, you only have to take the bark of to prevent the insects from spreading. The wood has to be processed a bit faster without bark, it dries, shrinks and cracks somewhat faster without the protective bark.
Back to WCG content: does anybody know how the different projects are prioritized? I run all available projects, and just until recently, I got Mapping Cancer Markers pretty exclusively - 75% of my computing time. I was actally wondering if there is a 200 year badge, which I estimated I would get to in July of 2018. Now, MCM tasks have dwindled to about 40%, and I've gotten a lot more time allocated to FAH Phase II and MIP. Is there some 'plan' behind this? Now I'm going to get 20 years in FAH II next month and 5 years in MIM next week. |

Away from WCG content:
Thank you for your wood info. Where would that golf course be? Back to WCG content - sort of You see, I'm a geography buff, and our Forum Profiles allow us to let others know where we are from. Would you care to take a look at your Forum Profile and consider filling in your country - perhaps state - maybe even a town or city? Back to wood: Once I visited this Portland OR institution. Never did I see this much wood horizontally and vertically carved and polished to amazing beauty. I visited our Danish Hunting- and Forestry Museum. They had nice slices but nothing compared to Portland. And now they're moving. What I found for you is 'Træmuseet' - The Woodworking Museum. Danish cabinet makers are behind it. It's long ago I saw a website this messy. And they think the entire world speaks Danish. But nevertheless: click around if you can stand it, and you'll find photos that will interest you. ![]() |
