Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

I'm getting lots of_2,_3 tasks now, to clean up from failing iGPUs,and older GPU's.

It's fine though. My GTX660M runs flawlessly, even if it's a very old, slow, and only a 2 Compute Units card. laughing

I have the same card but every WU fails.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

And I've just got an _4 on intel_gpu, with a 3.5 day deadline:

What's the max_errors limit at this project? How long before we start losing them?

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

The sad thing which I noticed Richard, is that when the max-error limit is reached, even if you have finished a task early on and OK, that task that was in Pending validation, all of a sudden changes to "Too Late", and no credits at all, and the whole WU is goodnight. Shouldn't the whole WU instead be marked as "Too Many Errors", and your task at least be granted some credits?

I pointed that out early on in the Beta, and I noticed others saw the issue too. However no reaction on that from the technical team here.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

Well, this one has one pending already, it's running now, and it'll be finished within the hour. So we saved one. biggrin

But I don't think we've quite finished Beta-ing this app yet

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

I agree, there's still lots of quirks left to find and fix.
But then, Corona is certainly not the last pandemic that's going to hit the world.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

I've been getting a few drips of GPU units here and there. Unless I catch them running, the only ways I can tell are the spikes in the UPS load graph and the oddly high and very welcome credit totals.

I hadn't realized this until I noticed the old packaging and brought up some reviews, that my 960 was at least slightly overclocked at the factory. It's been rock-solid even when it was cranking away on GPUGRID all day, so I'm not too worried about it. I just checked and didn't find any failed units, though five are awaiting a wingman.

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

Anyone else having GPU issue where running GPU is causing laptop to shut down or go into hibernate mode? This has happened even while using the laptop; any advise would be appreciated.

I believe the limit is 5 errored units and then the work unit is pulled to be examined to see what went wrong. Sometimes it takes the techs a while to get around to examining them and they stay in error status for quite a while.
Cheers

Re: OpenPandemics GPU is LIVE!

My laptop goes into standby when running GPU units if the lid is closed.
(I use external monitor via KVM switch and manage from another PC using BoincTasks).
When not running GPU units it runs OK with the lid closed and sends video to external monitor.

Still, best to take care of that GPU, they're difficult to get right now.
