Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

morning all
Hope your feeling more up and at em today Ted
If not will send the tin of Zubes I found at the back of the cupboard

devilish sad

Good morning/afternoon all

Zubes aye!, thought they had gone the same way as liquorice Imps and Spangles, Ted once took me to an 'Olde Shopee' some place in the wilds of Yorkshire, where they still sold a variety of cough sweets, aniseed balls, liquorice wood etc' an aladins cave of confectionary that brought back many memories of childhood, cost a lot more than the threepenny pocket money that I was given them days tho!.

Take care all...........and wrap up warm

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Don't remember licquorice imps and spangles.
I remember Walter's Palm Toffee, stickalice, tiger nuts, sherbet dabs and suckers, Fisherman's Friend (mints) and Victory V's at 2.5p per ounce and the little old lady who used a quarter ounce weight to weigh out a pennyworth, and asked "How many" when she meant "How much".
If I had had enough sense, I would have asked, "How many in two fifths of an ounce?"

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Evening all

Didn't get into town after all.

Had some sore spots on the back of my neck so decided to see the quack who diagnosed Shingles. It's not serious but just a bit of a nuisance. Still you learn something new every day.

I knew it was related to chicken pox but I didn't know that when you've had it some virus particles (cunning sods) remain dormant in nerve roots next to your spinal cord. Then, for reasons unknown, they may suddenly reactivate themselves and travel along the nerve to the skin.

So my little devils will apparently be restricted to back of half neck and shoulder and the upper arm on that side at at least it decided to have its go before Christmas and I'm not really a danger to others because if they've had chicken pox they're immune and if not they would have to come into direct contact with that bit of my skin so I'll try and keep away from the birds.

Re: The Edwardians have arrived!

Yep, still here reading every word! You don't think that for one moment I would not keep an eye on you all! After all, if I don't who will? devilish By the time I have read it all (and checked the stats wink ) my knees are hurting too much to type anything. Well that's my excuse and I'm sticking to it! laughing

French class tomorrow morning (chez moi) so have to get up early enough to get everything ready. Don't do my homework anymore, and the concensus of opinion is that I am much better at it than when I did!! confused biggrin

Sleep tight all. Nite nite smile
