1981 – In the 39th game of his 3rd NHL season Wayne Gretzky scores 5 goals giving him 50 on the year setting a new NHL record previously held by Maurice Richard and Mike Bossy who earlier had each scored 50 goals in 50 games.

June 2, 1806 - The origin of the State Bank of India goes back to the first decade of the nineteenth century with the establishment of the Bank of Calcutta in Calcutta on 2 June 1806. State Bank of India has an extensive administrative structure to oversee the large network of branches, with over 16000 branches, in India and abroad. The Corporate Headquarters is in Mumbai and 14 Local Head Offices and 57 Zonal Offices are located at important cities spread throughout the country.

June 6, 1997 - Bangladesh, India, Myanmar, Sri Lanka and Thailand came together to form an economic association called BIMSTEC linking the littoral states of the Bay of Bengal. This economic grouping aims at promoting rapid economic cooperation between members in key areas such as trade, investment, tourism, fisheries, agriculture, transportation and human resources development.
