The White House has announced that President Barack Obama will address the American people on a national security issue in the next few minutes. According to a United States official who spoke to The New York Times on Sunday night, Osama bin Laden has been killed. When Mr. Obama begins speaking, his remarks will appear in this live video stream from the White House Web site:

Google Search Patterns Could Track MRSA Spread

Records of Google searches could be used to track the spread of drug-resistant staph infections, filling a gap in existing surveillance for the bugs. With near-real-time, city-by-city information about the spread of MRSA, or methicillin-resistant staphylococcus aureus, public health experts may be better able to fight it.

“Potentially, we can get from Google a more timely measure of trends” than other surveillance systems provide, said epidemiologist Diane Lauderdale of the University of Chicago....

Is it just me or does this have a whiff of a similar malodorous smell of the “Cold Fusion” debacle of 1989? Perhaps only Time will tell. Until then I think I will just continue to pet Schrödinger's cat.
