Re: The Formula One Thread

Alonso wins again, with Jenson second.
Sebastian Vettel gets 20 sec penalty, so comes 5th.

Re: The Formula One Thread

And Vettel has his podium taken away, Red Bull is finding that defending the title is serious business! Red Bull may find their ECU problems mounting too, they seem to be playing fast and loose with the rules and have been caught, again. They of course claim innocence, but the data indicates otherwise so they are now saying the rules are unclear. They need to understand that beuing out front means higher scrutiny than the last place Team! Who cares if Caterham is cheating in minor areas, they aren't winning anyway! Red Bull however ran away with the Championship, BOTH of them, last year and this year is under even more scrutiny because of it! NO ONE wants one Team to win by cheating, especially the other Teams!!

Re: The Formula One Thread

IMHO Grosjean is a one-lap wonder, but struggles too much on the races.

He seemed to keep Vettel at bay in Hungary for most of the race and came in 3rd behind his teammate. Webber came in 8th while Alonso was 6th and extends his WDC lead. RBR WCC lead is now down to 53 points with 3 teams fighting very closely for 2nd. If RBR continues to have problems they will find their lead gone soon! With some very high speed tracks coming up next, and RBR traditionally doing poorly at those, the lead may evaporate altogether. Also with RBR having 'issues' lately with the FIA and RBR's interpretation of the rules and technical regs RBR may be running mid or even worse pack shortly. The FIA could even require a full tear down and tech inspection of the WHOLE car in the upcoming break. The Red Bulls 'seem' to also be violating the tech regs regarding requiring tools to adjust the ride height of the vehicle, the Red Bulls were being adjusted by hand during pit stops! The rule talks about 'parc ferme' and apparently RBR is saying 'parc ferme' ends when the cars start the race. I am sure another ruling will be forthcoming during the break. This would explain the RBR cars being of the exact same ride height during qualifying and the race, when around 300 lbs is added to the car for the race, ie fuel. One would guess it should go down as auto height adjusters are illegal, AND they are NOT raising up during the race.

The race car at 300 pounds--US gallon would be 49.75124378 gallons at 300 lbs and . 7.29 pounds per Imperial Gallon would be 41.15226337 How much fuel do they carry??They must be bigger than NASCAR---Before 2007 the tank size was (33) gallons then after that they went to a twenty-two (22) gallon tank for safety reasons---

They do not have a fixed size in the rules, it depends on the cars fuel mileage so each car is slightly different. Each race is about 150 miles, it is 'officially' in KM but again varies depending on track, most races are around 60 laps or so. Hungary was 70 laps.

To me racing especially NASCAR is not as much fun as before big company's started backing certain drivers also drag racing which did the same pushed out small car builders because if they blew an engine all they had to do was go to the dealer and get a new engine--One of my brothers in law started his career on the Datona Beach sand--one of the best mechanics ive ever known--and like you said he knew how to cheat to get an advantage-- smile
