Okay so basically that means that there is no problem? It's supposed to stay at "Ready to report?" Anything between a couple seconds and 25 hours is completely normal. When I pressed "Update" in the "Projects" tab, the "Ready to report"-tasks dissappeared. Is this supposed to happen? Yes, this means the server has accepted your report. It's possible you'll see "acknowledged" in BOINC Manager for a second before result removed, but it's no problem if you're not seeing this. Also, after I pressed update, it says: "Communication deferred xx:xx:xx" (countdown timer) in the "Status"-bar in the tab "Projects". What's up with that? This is normal, client is asked by server to wait around 5 minutes before it's allowed to contact again. Most of the time there won't be a connection then counter has reached zero, but instead maybe 1+ hour before next time it's any reasons to connect. ![]() "I make so many mistakes. Yes everything is working as expected.
----------------------------------------Actually the trigger list given earlier in this thread should include a 7th case "The end user clicked the Update button for this project". No irony in my comment. It is one of those things which go without saying for many people, but as we use to say (at least in my country) "it goes even better with saying". ![]() Cheers. Jean. |

Cookie, you had your answer already at the BOINC dev where you opened a thread with the same questions. Actually I had no answer. They only told me that the status meant everything was uploaded and OK. However, I'm still having the issue described in my post above yours. This one: Now I've seen Ingleside answering your same questions here and there. I think it's not very courteous towards the volunteer support community to launch the identical question on multiple fora simultaneously. Suggest you do it in one place at the time and if you don't get answer to satisfaction, seek answer at alternate source. cheers

If it is counting down, you can always go to the advanced tab and "retry communications". If you do that too much, it will complain that there have been too many updates and start the 5 minute counter again. You might as well wait for that one. Since I have 3 computers on one dial-up line and one on another dial-up I prefer to do an update if I see something that needs reported. I don't want to keep the connection open for 24 hours on any one computer. The wife wants to get roadrunner instead of the other line soon. I'll route it to these computers if that idea goes through.
