Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

82.12% yesterday

The progress was stalling until HCC relaunched. HCC kicked back up from zero to 47 CPU years (new day record) and that on a Saturday as well.

Really galls and guys, UD is not going to get any new projects! And if you go for the points, you get more per hour and the system requirements are less and the graphics are practically equal and and and and. smile

Oh, and there is still that 'rainy day' reserve that Scribbles and Ady are holding biggrin

I have a lot of machines to find and switch.
But I am 80% complete on the changeover.
I have been setting BOINC to run as a service on the admin login with the XP machines. The three Vista machines still suck with either client.
I wish MS would just recall Vista and start over. What a PIG Vista is.

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

Friday, December 7, 2007 a new record of 85,850,240 points were reported for BOINC. The Migratometer was updated. We continue to hover against the 82-83% mark.

applause

This weekend is the time though to look at transitioning from the UD agent. If run without any buffer add-on like UDMon, UD will go to sleep if it finishes a job between 16:00 UTC on Sunday and Monday. Dec.9/10 due a 24 hour maintenance period. That's going to be lost hours crunching whistling

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

Hi Diana I'm currently a 50% UD 50% BOINC man

My home PC is running BOINC and my Webserver (see sig below) is running UD

Why?...Well...It's down to the throttle. If I put BOINC on the server then it will run flat out and it's a P4 and it will overheat and throttle and draw attention to itself where it is hosted.

I have it UD'ing ticking over on a nice 25% and everyone is happy.

It's better to have 25% of a 3Ghz P4 than none at all.

Now if BOINC could do something similar without running 100% for a 1/4 of the time which is how it's relatively clumsy throttle works, then you would be able to tick me off that list.

Dave

Re: The BOINC Migration Meter

I have a question...

I noticed a couple of my Team members have 'joined' Christians on the All Stats BOINC, so does this mean they made the switch from UD? biggrin

Thanks!!
