I remember Timothy McVeigh loud and clear, acpartsman. I sat glued to the TV, and I couldn't believe it was an American who hated his country so much that he felt he should do that.
And little children .... Anders Bering Breivik (the Norwegian who single handedly shot 77 people - most of them youngsters in July of 2011) would have had a hard time killing them with a knife - even two knives, one for each hand. When people run amok with firearms (take the unbelievable Las Vegas incident a few months ago and the many school shootings where mainly children are killed and hurt) it does make taller headlines than the slashing of thoats does (depending on the number of throats). That's how media prioritize, and is probably in line with how most of us feel. ![]() ![]() There is virtually no crime carried out in Denmark with legal weapons. It's much easier for smugglers and criminals to smuggle weapons from abroad than aquire them legally. which as I see it is some proof of something working - I cannot say what or which ... Good Morning Base Campers! Were it not because stefada wants to test his new computer in a challenge, I would have suggested you and I – especially you, acpartsman ![]() gave team Kraland a helping hand in their upcoming challenge We could do that in the next one la capitaine Saphir12 arranges, which will be Kraland – Challenge IX. I wish you and I had ’met’ a little earlier so that you could have participated in our Base Camp trek to team Kraland. This team is basically based in France, and our hosts took so good care of us – gave us French specialties to eat, fine wines to drink with it, but best of all took us by the hand and showed us around in the beautiful area where stefada and Saphir12 live. We posted the first pictures ourselves, but very soon our hosts took over as the experts, so if you KliK onwards from there you’ll get a wonderful impression of the Team Kraland kingdom. ![]() Until we descend on Maine, which I propose we could do around March 5th, and if you itch for something to throw your points at, you could drop some with another Base Camp friend: SeriousCrunchers. They (we – I’m currently there as you can see from my signature) are in only heaven knows how many challenges. I’ll even reward you with an irregular posttrek SeriousCrunchers badge for it ![]() You cannot believe the weather we have today: Siberian frost, sun and a clear blue sky with a few small white clouds just for accentuation. Late afternoon when the sun sets, it will look like this ![]() |

Oh, yeah, I would think Americans would find the Danish restrictions on ownership of firearms ridiculous. Many of us think the lack of firearm restrictions in the U.S. is much more ridiculous. |

I have no problem with gun laws. The problem in America is the belief that the criminals that cause all the trouble will follow them. People simply fail to understand that no matter what law is passed, criminals will still get and use guns even if they have to build them.
----------------------------------------I guess I struck a nerve based on ErikaT dropping in with her friendly reminder. To whom it may concern, I'm not debating or trying to pick a fight, just friendly chit chat comparing different rules in different countries. I personally find laws of other areas interesting and hearing if they actually work. Guess I'll go back to emailing little mermaid so no one gets offended. Little Mermaid - I joined you with SeriousCrunchers. Unless they drop in to join our conversation, you will have to let us know if they respond to the boost. ![]()

acpartsman, I on my part enjoy our exchanges here very much
- and it is my impression that many Forum members find it entertaining (some offending, though) because we have many visitors as I do our exchanges in our e-mails, and I was under the impression that we could discuss things freely in our 'Community' Forum however - and this is not the first time I/we have been reprimanded lately, because we entered a word in the 4 letter wordgame which was deemed offensive. Later I entered 'bimbo' which to the best of my knowledge is an innocent American slang word. However our German gamer found it questionable (said so jokingly) - and doing my German homework the other day, I found out that in German 'Bimbo' is quite a loaded word I have a feeling that someone(s) have been offended by something I (we) have written in our Base Camp thread. Everybody gets offended and acts police in this Facebook era. I feel I have been charged with something I don’t know what is. It would be nice, if the one(s) who is/are offended would state what the problem(s) is. I feel a verdict - and I'm afraid I have not come around to read the stipulations yet - has been issued without me (us) having had a chance to explain or defend myself/ourselves. The Second Amendment is very much in vogue these days. We should not forget the First Amendment which secures Freedom of Speech. I realize that a private enterprise as WCG can decide on limitations to the First Amendment. In the Danish Constitution it says: Each and everyone has a right to publish his thoughts in print, in writing, and in speech being responsible to noone but the judiciary Court. Never again shall censorship and other preventive regulations be introduced. We tend to take Freedom of Speech seriously in Denmark, so much so that we paid with our Embassies in Beirut, Lebanon, and Damaskus, Syria – both places of former and present turmoil – for the bomb in the turban cartoon. The cartoonist regrets nothing in spite of having had to live under 24/7 protection from police ever since in a home equipped with a safe room, which came in handy when a Somali man with an axe tried to hack him to pieces. Well, I don’t really know what to say or think. So I’ll say thank you acpartsman ![]() I don’t know why Chicago-IL-USA has become such a benchmark. We ought to make a trek there some day. Chicago is worth a visit any time … ![]() I have a suggestion: I wonder if we could make some sort of 'sandbox' here - a place where people were warned not to come if they had a tendency to get offended and maybe a place where we could keep our wordgames, Hexagame, and discussions of them which seem to dominate the 'Recent Threads' list. This would make it easier to find the 'business posts' ![]() |

I guess the problem is there is always someone who'll be offended by anything others do when the others are enjoying freedoms. If people would learn to just enjoy life and stop worrying about controlling everyone else (think HOA for example) the world would be a much nicer place.
----------------------------------------As for certain words, people have to understand not everyone lives in the same country or speaks the same language, what a word means in one place can mean something totally different in others and just because it's an offensive word in one country doesn't mean it's a bad word in the country of the person who used it. Grow up people, I thought we could all be adults here and not act like 6 year olds or snowflakes. I guess I'll get reprimanded for this post too as it will certainly ruffle the feathers of someone that feels their feelings are more important than others rights.
