For you out there shhh we are always on the outlook for new Base Campers.
Don't be shy

acpartsman, you really sound as if you have everything under control with This Old House.
Sometimes These Old Houses tend to take control in their own way
– Bob Vila always had surprises!
but so far so good, and I wish it will continue this way.
Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Our present Captain, adriverhoef, happened to have another Carol Beer up his sleeve …
Oh, she is a bank customer service representative now – I thought she was still at the Pennsylvania hospital … my bad.
You’ll find helpful Carol Beer here along with a small but choice selection of music.
Due to the WCG update that made many things behave weird
– I for instance had four WUs downloading for an unsettling length of time - until I killed them devilish
I couldn’t stand to see them suffer any more crying

our graphs took a downward turn in spite of the same crew doing their very best:
acpartsman
davwhite5xq7
little mermaid
NixChix
Yodap@BC

Lidwien is a name. A first name. It seems to be exclusively female. You never know with Dutch.
Or English for that matter.

What Base Camp does right now
We are on our top40.nl 2.0 trek which takes place here: top40.nl
Everybody is invited at any time during the entire month of July – nobody comes …
July 14 – Bastille Day in France and
July 21 – anniversary for the lunar landing will be peak days
Captain adriverhoef has entered us into a number of challenges
This is the badge for trek top40.nl 2.0

So far it has been earned by
acpartsman

NixChix
tanner2
TLD
Yodap@BC

UltimaThule will earn one if he returns to Minnesota Crunchers
♥ Willkommen ♥ Bienvenue ♥ Welcome ♥

’NixChix’ is without the space …. Something saved right there
But what does NixChix mean to you, NixChix?
Do I dare say this?
To me it whips up something with you not having chickens in your backyard

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

Little Devil,

(trop tentant de suivre Blade D / too tempting to follow Blade D devilish )

----------
A few years ago I did not skate. And Louloup does not like that (I think like a lot of dogs, the sound of ball bearings bother him).

But at the time, I was doing cristy (this picture is perhaps even better?) Everywhere I could! It's a very strange feeling, a mix between rolling, floating, and flying. It's hard to describe. And the most incredible thing is that it's easy! Contrary to what one might think, there is no need for flexibility at all. It's like crossing your legs at the table, except that you do a 90° rotation. If we already have the basics of skating, and someone who explains the technique, just 2/3 sessions to find the balance.

At one time I was really doing a lot. So much so that my sister and my two brothers bought a pair, so that we could do all together (so no, no jealousy). I had even learned how to make the cristy in reverse. The difficulty being that to see where you go, you have to put your head upside down under the shoulder. I do not know if there are words that exist to say what we feel when we get there, and I do not have a photo ...

I hope not to disturb you with my memories. It is that looking for the picture where I look like a Viking, made me find those, and wanted to share.

blushing

acpartsman,

Ravis que ton projet se passe mieux que prévu. C'est toujours agréable d'avoir des bonnes nouvelles, et encore plus quand elles viennent de gens qu'on 'aime bien'.
----------
Delighted that your project is going better than expected. It's always nice to have good news, and even more when they come from people 'we like'.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

I cannot believe you can twist yourself this way ... and you say it's easy, stefada!
My knees, motoric skills, and sense of balance says no
- it's easier to be Carol Beer: She just have to say: 'Cmptr says NO' whereas I have so much that says NO.
Wonderful pictures, and wonderful memories, stefada.
Don't stop, please smile

As for the invitation to visit col323 at his party in Heaven:
Oh, I really intend to go by Rosie and I have this app
which I think the whole world should have - online/offline navigation, collections
- I still have my walks in Washington, D. C. and New York City filed
- they store it online, so when the Sony Hospital in Sweden erases everything,
you can just log on, and Vupti! it's retored!

Do you want to hitch a hike with me - now aka Little Devil - BladeD?
cool
- we will make sure not to take a
wrong turn

Right no space and I do not have chickens in my back yard. Only a dog, wild birds, and monarch caterpillars. I leave it to the neighbors to have chickens.

"NixChix" was the name of my children's' imaginary rock group comprised of my son, Nick, and his sisters (as in Nick's Chicks). They all liked singing and dancing so they were all in choir at school. The 2 oldest daughters took up show choir and the oldest one parleyed those talents/skills into a 7-year gig at a magical theme park impersonating cartoon princesses and others, including a well-known mermaid princess. Your screen name certainly reminds me of those good times and so does "NixChix".

Maybe I was enticed into joining For little Jake, and others way back by an early Base Camp posting and I forgot to exit at the end of the Trek. I joined For little Jake, and others in May 2007. Did BC exist then? I think I remember Guitar Man asking me to "stay a while", so I did. I can see that this un-team was active even back then, but you didn't join until 2011. But, I can't remember anymore. I do remember the names of the early Base Campers I see on the early posts.

What is done with these badge thingies if I may ask? I don't see anyone posting them anywhere?

Cheers coffee

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

You're an excellent talker, NixChix.
Thank you for the explanation of your name. It's a good one with good memories.
As for our common history, a visit to your home team made me made this post that answers most questions.
When I started at UDGrid, I was just my civilian name (anne-lise), then I became 'ugly duckling'.
UDGrid was demolished, I was demolished, and so was my e-mail,
so I had to get myself a new profile in order to join here when I finally found WCG and so many old friends.

I asked TLD a question about whether we had a badge for the 'For little jake and others' trek.
I'll ask him again in SeriousCrunchers' team thread. I probably scared him away with my never ending posts.

As to our badges:
Nobody displays them, but you have the right to carry them whenever you are invited to something important:
A presidential dinner, a royal one or a party in Heaven ....

Good Afternoon Base Campers!
Our graphs did make some weird swings due to the July 10 update.

Team Andrax slipped ahead of us in the one challenge we were leading.

Re: Base Camp.......The team that isn't

This is from another thread where it doesn't belong. You will understand. biggrin
how about the water level in your canals and such?
Well, what can I say? It is very dry weather, there has hardly been any rain for more than a month. In just a few parts of the Netherlands there is now an absolute prohibition on using water from channels, brooks and streams. 'If brooks and channels are fed by a bigger river, there's no ban. The waterlevel of the bigger rivers is not yet too low', an expert says; but there's no real crisis yet.
A tree expert sees the tree landscape changing in the coming years as the climate changes. "We have a temperate maritime climate and, increasingly, we get a continental climate with low temperatures until March and high temperatures from May. There is less and less time to plant trees. The beech trees will disappear because of the high temperatures in the summer. Other trees will come back for that. That is a normal phenomenon, but it is changing rapidly in recent years."

The bigger rivers in the Netherlands:

Rhine flowing in from Germany, Meuse from Belgium.
