Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 22 smile smile

Sadly, these are somewhat expensive solutions. I'm looking for obscure places at Harvard for me to hide a laptop so it can crunch all year long and not heat my apartment in the summer. My desktop is a lost cause though - I have to shut it down during the day since it heats my room to a comfy 65 degrees F even when it is 20 degrees F with my window open and a fan on.

Dataman,

Unfortunately, I have to shut most everything down about the end of May to early September. When the outside temperature is 105F (41C), my office is 90F (32C) and the processors are 158F (70C), there is no place to put the heat. sad

A few solutions:

1) move the servers into the cooler basement
2) equip the workstations with active (liquid) cooling
3) install an air condition

These temperatures might even go up during the next years...
We can't allow summer to keep us from finding cures...

Best regards, Stefan.

Re: smile smile Join "MyOnlineTeam" Today - Chapter 22 smile smile

WOW, what a day! We set new daily records for both points and results today!

We are now at 1,326,270 points to go or an average of 110,523 points per day. Trend looks like this:

12/03 - 155,427
12/04 - 155,684
12/05 - 155,728
12/06 - 155,348
12/07 - 155,480
12/08 - 156,585
12/09 - 157,170
12/10 - 156,879 UD outage these days
12/11 - 158,238

12/12 - 156,968 recovery from the outage
12/13 - 156,072
12/14 - 153,857
12/15 - 152,105
12/16 - 149,176
12/17 - 145,292
12/18 - 131,251
12/19 - 110,523

We are clearly at warp speed! biggrin As for when we'll hit the goal, here's how that has changed:

12/30 11 days 120,570.00000 points/day vs. 142,188.33333
yesterday
12/29 10 days 132,627.00000 vs. 155,114.54545
12/28 09 days 147,363.33333 vs. 170,626.00000
12/27 08 days 165,783.75000 vs. 189,584.44444
12/26 07 days 189,467.14286 vs. 213,282.50000
12/25 06 days 221,045.00000 vs. 243,751.42857
12/24 05 days 265,254.00000
12/23 04 days 331,567.50000
12/22 03 days 442,090.00000

Given our production of the last couple of days, it could well be reasonable to expect that we will hit our goal by Christmas easily and quite possibly even sooner, perhaps by next Sunday! That is breath-taking.

To be precise about the three new challehges, they started at 00:00 UTC 12/20 so at the moment, they appear to show all participating teams in 1st place as every team has no points yet. That will all change with today's (12/20) stats. Note that in the Christmas Race challenge, we've edged into 6th place!
