Has anyone looked into whether or not WCG is a 501(c)3 registered charity? If so, we could hypothetically write off part of our electric bill as a charitable donation (if we could demonstrate that the computers were dedicated use WCG machines and that the power paid for was exclusively used for them). This might help mitigate the hurt of high power bills. Additionally, and I am certainly not a tax lawyer, those of you who have bought machines exclusively for use as WCG crunching machines could hypothetically write them off as well (in the way that corporations write-off company cars). FINGERS CROSSED! Blizzie i hope you are not OCing to much--or spending your school money on CPUs   Nope. I just had a massive amount of points cause of lots of Results Validating. Won't be getting that today. ;) Sorry Jonathan it has be brought up before. It is not a charity nor will it be one. Only Big Blue gets to write it off. Looks to me like the edwardians produce about 24K points/day more than we do on average ... so ... that makes us the underdog. I think I can squeeze another 4-5k points per day out of my machines. That still leaves us short.  Anyone else have something in reserve?  |

Sorry, but I'm maxed out right now too. 2 machines 24/7 1 machine, however long my roommate leaves it on. If only I had another machine!
 The good news is I think I'm building (or more accurately, having built for me) a quadcore gaming rig in march or april.  That will become a 24/7 machine until summer when all my rigs except my laptop get shutdown. Too much heat. |

Looks to me like the edwardians produce about 24K points/day more than we do on average ... so ... that makes us the underdog. I think I can squeeze another 4-5k points per day out of my machines. That still leaves us short. Anyone else have something in reserve?Well, we have four weeks to give it our best shot. Hopefully, we'll do what it takes. I'm sure we'll learn a few things from this challenge. I think with some sort of handicapping, we could have challenges with almost any team. I'm working with courine to get one going with the In2My.Net team too. One question will be whether we'd want to be involved in more than one challenge at a time. Other questions may arise but we'll deal with them. |
