Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Evening all

Was thinking of you Merle. Moving house is one of the over rated pastimes as far as I am concerned.

At least is looks as if you had a warm and dry day for it.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

just had a quick welcome to new home chat with Merle
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=GG-wjkB7gXM
this clip has some

maybe not readable phrases
Car-man chap driving the cart/Wagon
Marble washstand ===== Sort of table ideal if surface was marble on which stood bowl soap dish shaving mug and water jug washstand set All of these should match the "guzunder" " Jerry"
or Chamber pot
I believe "the finest bit of china that we had" in the song was one of the above otherwise why the reaction from the lady in the big hat a bit naughty what .....

We had two wash stands at home one in each bedroom
In the winter you could obtain warm water for a splash and dash from the contents of the stone hot water bottle
Gents would only need a shaving mug full of HOT water to do the biz
Our carbon foot print must have been pretty small
Mostly tho
washing was done in the scullery
It was a lot warmer down stairs than in the bedrooms
Cast iron Kitchen range stayed in all night

Not an AgA or Rayburn but retained heat and kettle was always ready for a brew
*******************************

Any way team give a thought to those less fortunate than us .....

Maybe We should think of Merle

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

Good morning all. Wasn't aware of the outage thanks to our local power company and my own 16 hour power outage that cost me 671 hours of crunch time. I can deal with having to shower and shave in the dark but losing the processing time really chaps my fanny.

Have a great weekend everybody.

Re: THE EDWARDIANS - MARCH ON

It's still obviously going on, the gremlin I mean.
I tried several times to get on to the site and found it down. So I'm doing a quick post before it disappears into the ether again.

Now Merle, where did you put that plug to get the machine up and running again. Relax, it's now over.
