Re: Just for grins

Hi!
Anyone able to run GPU units?

The list of cards not being able to run GPU tasks on WCG seems to be a bit too long, and it includes my good old ATI HD3850 (it's not just relatively old, it's still an AGP card 8D ).
Some time ago I joined Milkyway@Home just because it utilized GPU, and does it pretty good, as far as I can tell by points it generates, only problem being I can't upgrade my card's drivers to the latest ones, because any driver beyond 11.7 fails to use GPU for BOINC, at least on M@H project.

love struck Re: Just for grins

I am still moving into my new place. If I can get my website up, the next thing will be to look into the GPU issues at WCG.
love struck .

Welcome new member twilyth

Courine hasn't been well lately or she would have welcomed you sooner.

As part of some other things I do I have a team statistics page for this team. You make quite a spike.

Re: Welcome new member twilyth

Hi Twilith, welcome aboard. biggrin

I am Jo, Courine's other half. I am loging in for her because I need to keep her in bed until the current set of problems she faces resolve. She has a bad case of PTSD. She is in no real danger, but the situation for her is hardly pretty. So it is taking most of her time just to stay afloat. This means she is having to take time away from tasks she would normaly wish to be involved in, like here. She worries that if she is gone, that others would think she doesn't care. Actuslly she care more than you could possibly believe. In fact what helps her the most in life is knowing even in her darkest moments, that her computers are working for a better future for everyone.

So when she asks me about WCG and Geo, I know she is on her way back to me, no matter what problem she is facing. And if she has not spoken for a week, if the first word out of her mouth is how I am holding up, followed "how is the team doing?" and "have you seen Geo?", it would tend to show where her priorities are.

Re: Welcome new member twilyth

Thank you and wish her well. I remember talking to her a bit about it and my own issues years ago before I dropped off the forum here. I also remember how devoted she was to helping improve WCG, which is a big part of the reason I joined the team.

I still feel a little out of place on a team for gamers since I still tend to think of GTA as a criminal code reference, but I have at least progressed from playing free cell to angry birds. That's got to count for something, right? biggrin

Re: Welcome new member twilyth

Just wanted to stop by and say hi. Hope you're doing better Courine. I've been sort of enervated the past few weeks. I've been trying to get one last machine up and running - an EVGA SR-2 with 2 hex core Xeons. I just have to add a hard disk drive, optical drive and video card then load the OS but I've not been able to get motivated. I have a 7950 sitting in the box waiting to be mounted for that build and I'll move a second one from another rig if I can get everything working properly.

I've been having a lot of problems lately either running out of wu's or having boinc just mysteriously unloading itself - the latter on just one rig so I've set it to reboot daily. Can't really do too much about the wu buffers though. So there's been a lot of variability in my daily numbers lately.
