biggrin Re: Congratulations on passing 500,000,000 points!

Hi, Jo again.

Courine is finally doing a somewhat better. But I went around and logged into everywhere she hangs out at. She mentioned keeping the team challenges entered. I didn't know that you have to enter each one, but there are many going on all the time. I hope we didn't miss many. I just got through entering is the march challenges and I see some for feb, so it shouldn't be many.

BTW I know now why she was so sick. I have had to move before with her and it wasn't anything like this time. It got her for almost 6 months this time. The reason is "being hostage to stupidity" by the last landlord for 3.5 years. Now she says it maybe "a bit more" to cleanup much of what is in her queue before she can really come back.

I will keep you informed ;)

Re: Congratulations on passing 500,000,000 points!

I didn't really understand the part about "hostage to stupidity" but I hope things work out well this time. I was in my last apt for about 15 years. Before I got there it was run by a slum lord who had let the property fall into serious disrepair. But most of the time I was there the property was in receivership and since a lot of the units were rent controlled, repairs were slow and made only grudgingly. So finding a place where you don't get gouged on the rent and can rely on the property being maintained is a tough thing to do.

Thanks for posting and letting us know. Tell her the team will hopefully be in the top 100 in another 2-3 weeks.

Re: Congratulations on passing 500,000,000 points!

It seems that GPU crunching is changing WCG. At least when I look at my points and run time. Getting nearly twice as many points in same amount of running time than running with CPU only.

I need to do some reading at this forum to get back on track on what's going on here. Anyway, I'm glad that our thread now has updates more frequently! Thanks everybody and thank you C!

Re: Congratulations on passing 500,000,000 points!

Well, I can't crunch through GPU as I have seperate user profiles for my children, so the computer isn't logged on all the time - making GPU a no go. I have to stick with CPU that way.
It's really a shame as I have a GPU capable of crunching.

Re: Congratulations on passing 500,000,000 points!

Well, we are officially in the top 100 teams on BOINC at position 99. However according to WCG stats, we're still at position 104 so we won't be in the top 100 for another 3-4 days, but we should hit that mark by Friday or Saturday.

Re: Welcome new member Becay!

for the banner, that's the work of SNURK - post a message to this thread - https://secure.worldcommunitygrid.org/forums/wcg/viewthread_thread,29840

He will set one up for you that corresponds to your boinc user id number.

You do .net programming? Do you do any work with flat XML files? The WCG stats files are here - http://www.worldcommunitygrid.org/boinc/stats/

I want to be able to read the schema from the flat files but I haven't been able to find an easy way to do it.

Also, would happen to have any code for periodically checking an address like the one I just listed to see when file have been updated, downloading and unarchiving them?

I know I'm being a PITA, but if you don't have anything handy, don't go to any trouble. Thanks. biggrin wink

edit: btw, I'm using VB 2010 free edition. I used to be a mainframe programmer but I haven't coded in years and I'm trying to get back into it.
