Is there a fixed number of tasks to complete or the scientits are adding a new ones like experiments in FAAH?

Well, if you look up the last post by the lead scientist you'll see that it seems they're working on adding breast cancer to the targets... project sizes always change it seems as we go and the researchers learn. In offset, I think a faster version of HCC science application is in the making.
----------------------------------------As for the original set. Think it was 80 million, in quorum 2 making it 160 million plus an error factor i.e reckon that we're on about 36-37%.

Thank you all for the continued support of our project.
We will post a new progress update later in February - but briefly - we are working on speeding up the code for the analysis based on what we learned from the data so far; new data continues to be generated, so the size of the dataset to be analyzed is expanding. Estimating based on past perfomrance, we still need almost 3 years to complete HCC. igor |

Igor, thanks for the brief update (I'm looking forward to reading your more detailed report next month). As to the new data, bring it on - the more data you provide us, hopefully, the nearer we are to conquering this dreadful disease

Vertical take off and landing, the techs surely were conspiring to have RICE end when HCC version 6.08 would be launched :D.
----------------------------------------Looking like an all-single-sciences record [to verify], heading for 180,000 validations today at an average run time of 2.92 hours per task from last week average 5.46 hours. We're now doing > 186% of the work done in the same amount of time. Crunching on.

As of noon down to 2.82 hours tasks mean for the project or 1.936 times more work done in the same amount of time.

Yesterday we had an all-time, any science record on Help Conquer Cancer of 237,709 results validated in 1 day. Also we passed the 50k CPU years contributed and the 75 million results. This pace and total tasks remaining for the known set will get us to the end within 60
----------------------------------------Crunch On. PS: Task mean runtime has settled on ~2.6 hours from before 5.64 hours on the old science app version.

Help Conquer Cancer Scientist on Jan 29, 2010 in this thread: "Estimating based on past perfomrance, we still need almost 3 years to complete HCC." So why 60 months just to complete this dataset? Chrunch on. Hopefuly we will beat this horrible and deadly ilness one day. |

Well, it says "past performance"...at the speed then, we're now well over 2x faster with version 6.08 [see the relevant discussion thread]. In fact on My Linux 64 box it's over 4x faster than when running the old under Windows.
