Computer RAM is dead. Won't get new sets for 2 weeks.  Buy locally next time and you can get it exchanged a lot faster. I have tried the larger mail order houses in the past and as long as nothing goes wrong, its ok, but when you have a problem it ALLWAYS takes more time that the savings initially were worth. my 2 cents Stores won't want them back after 30 days. Have to RMA to manufacturer. |

Results Returned (Rank) 35,372 (#337)  Computer RAM is dead. Won't get new sets for 2 weeks. But have you discovered the root cause of the problem?  Nope.. I disassembled everything and took a look at my motherboard. No damage. I tried some of the RAM from my Quad and it works fine. On my other 4 1GB sticks. 2 are dead. 1 will boot but errors in memtest. 1 is semi okay.... So all 4 are going back.. I still don't know how all my RAM just died at once. It can't be a power surge since I have a surge protector. And I don't know what caused that loud pop sound. Are those the ones you ordered a while back and were DOA on arrival and you had to get them replaced? If so, I'd look to another supplier. Sorry, I dont have a clue either. But weird $#!+ just happens sometimes in IT. I once had a UPS that blew a rectifier, discharged the battery in a couple of milliseconds and almost set the room on fire.  Scared the <explative deleted> out of me. Good luck with the repair ... we need you!!!   |

Well, Fay royally soaked Florida and looks to be centered near Hattiesburg, MS. Still, there's a pretty nice rain band passing thru at the moment. Heavy rain and impressive lightning. We can use the rain here in the southeast but not 20-30 inches at once!

Well, Fay royally soaked Florida and looks to be centered near Hattiesburg, MS. Still, there's a pretty nice rain band passing thru at the moment. Heavy rain and impressive lightning. We can use the rain here in the southeast but not 20-30 inches at once! Plese send me 2" of that! Bone dry here and back into the 100's in a couple of days. Will be shutting some of them down I guess ... was starting to get on a roll ... but between heat and the PV jail ... I'm a slacker. |
