Re: THE EDWARDIANS - WHY NOT JOIN US AS THE QUEST CONTINUES -

Owld sage Rote
Can't believe your 'mincepies' Aye
mince pies =eyes the aye at the end is a suffix that
Tony uses, a dialect form of speech from where he lives
Most of England use some form of Rhyming slag or local versions of it. the list that scribe gave might have been correct at the time of writing and is in a state of flux all the time
If I was to go for a takeaway say a Curry I would go for a "Ruby"

The phrase has lost the rhyming part but those that know a a Ruby is referring to RUBY MURRY a singer from the late sixties
so generations will adapt
up the apples and pears would normally be up the apples You are going up the "wooden hill" to Bedfordshire all meaning going up stairs to "kip"=sleep 'Cause after a long day on the Frog your plates are barking
Why do we corrupt our language? its evolving all the time and also Used in extreme as a private coded way to talk to each members of a community the IN crowd

Hmphh! sad So much for the nice weather! It is now throwing it down - (pelting it down I would say!), so that has definitely decided it is staying in rather than going for a walk weather (as if .......!). I have so many chores to do, but I am taking a guess that none of them will actually be done this pm! C'est la vie.........! wink devilish
