Oh, barring a major miracle, 4/27 will be the end of my 21 year career with IBM - just 14 months shy of being able to qualify for full retirement.

Total points returned today: 353,539 Active members returning points today: 38 WOW Team! Welcome Darth! Thanks folks! I’m feeling much better now. 1) I’ve had some beer. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() I spent the afternoon with the insurance adjuster and after my $1K deductible the electrician/electrical work is covered in full and the appliances are covered at replacement cost. All computer peripheral equipment is covered except I am only covered for two household computers (doesn’t every single-person household have 9???). However, the guy seemed to know his stuff about gaming and vid cards and wrote them up as two, high-end video gaming computers. I won’t say what he comp’ed them for but will say it was very, very, very generous. ![]() When they ‘show me the money’ I’ll get started rebuilding them. But right now springtime is split between dirt farmer, chicken farmer, lumberjack and the normal household chores. Not much time for server farming. OUCH! You didn't happen to accidentally have some sort of run in with an ENT in the past, did you? I must have. I like big Oak trees but they don’t like me. I was talking to the PG&E crew and the cable is designed to break at a weak point at the transformer so the falling cable is dead. It didn’t. At the junction to the house there is a pigtail so if the steel cable the wire is wrapped around is torn away it allows the wire to move away from the house before it breaks at the connectors to prevent arcing. That didn’t happen. It broke where the wire enters the conduit to the breaker box. The conduit/breaker box is grounded. Apparent not well enough (is now). My main breaker should have opened. It didn’t. It pretty much fried the breaker box. That seems to me to be a lot of stuff that should have happened but didn’t. I have a new box and all new breakers now though. This old man had two very busy days ... and ... tomorrow I have a blind date with a chainsaw ... again. ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

I will be holding my breath hoping for that miracle Keith. I went through that myself shortly before WCG as you know. [Edit 1 times, last edit by Former Member at Mar 28, 2009 1:49:36 AM] |
