Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Right now the electric bill is winning. Creeping toward 1/4 of my monthly income. Sigh...

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

As far as I remember Rhode Island had no tax (VAT) on food, medicine,
clothes at less than $250 per item (or something like that) and energy for heating.
Some of the most fair VAT I have ever met.
@ Wishbone: I also wondered all the time what the "Value Added" was.
It is a marxist concept, isn't it?

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Its less understandable than the tax that came into force in the dark days of 1696, in the reign of William III a form of taxation known as the “Window Tax” and would last until 1851.
houses with more than six windows you paid up
Evidence of Tax avoidance is still to be seen with bricked up windows on some older houses sad

"King Billy" as he was affectionately known wasn't English BTW came from some low country devilish Willem III van Oranje sad
(did he invent oranjeboom ? if so he's an aright guy)

"Reap what you sow", as they say see how dark it is in this painting....... all due to him forcing the blocking up of windows

The poor guy was in fact poverty stricken at this time.See how he is having to do his own household chores. The artist has caught him with his sweeping brush & a red duster that matches his cloak.

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Sounds like the closet tax that resulted in armoires until folks over here realized they could expand from little boxy cupboards to walk in jobs the size of 3rd world houses!

Re: SeriousCrunchers Attempting Re-Entry

Have spent some time today with screw driver and blind faith
up some steps changing light fittings In particular one in the room that houses my crunchers it now has a ceiling fan(from my come in handy stock in the garage ) and the ambient temp is much reduced moving the air around instead of the machines just cooking it . Murphy's law of course came into play as today is much cooler so not truly sure of the effect didnt do before and after checks
The blind faith bit is 'cause I cant really see what I'm doing up the ladder holding the fitting with one hand turning /locating the screws with the other devilish

Know that feeling. Only I'm not playing with 220 so it only knocks me off the ladder if I guess wrong.

No smoke in the air this morning. A blessing on a day when the temps will be soaring over the century mark. 40C + for you lot "over there"!
